Denton Military Vehicle/Gun Show- 4/27-28

Sounds good, I will wear green and a HAT.
I'll be dressed like a cross between a tunnel rat and a VC irregular.

Wide brim hat, black pajamas, flip flops, headlamp, covered in dirt and grime, with a rusty revolver in one hand, partially lit cigarette in the other and a bug-eyed grin on my face.

Of course that is generally my style anyway.

I see this is coming up Apr 27-28. It's about a three hour trip for me and I was wondering what folks who have been before have to say about it. There's a "6 Shooters" gun show along with the Military Vehicle Show Is the gun show more militaria, or just another typical gun show?

I'm curious also. I've tried and failed twice to attend but other obligations interfered.

It's a 2 hour trip for me.
I go and meet friends there.
We go for the MVs, the gun show is just an extra.

Ever been up in a Huey?
Go and take a ride :)

I went last year.

Lots of reenactors. Tents and equipment set ups. More than just the usual stuff. One was a working mobile field kitchen that was interesting. They were actually cooking breakfast for the reenactors. Another was a field office with desk, typewriters, etc. Also, a display showcasing women's wartime duties. All the folks behind the set ups were more than happy to talk about and show off the equipment.

A bunch of military vehicles and vehicle parts vendors set up. They did a "parade" of vehicles while we were there, mostly jeeps but other stuff mixed in as well.

There was a line of maybe 5 or 6 machineguns doing demos firing blanks. You could pay a fee and get behind one for at least the experience of the noise.

There was a Huey helicopter that you could take a flight on. Can't remember the exact price but it was over $100. Minimum age to fly is 5. I had my 4-year-old grandson with me so missed out on that. I do plan to try again this year.

The gun show was the usual Six Shooters affair. No real military stuff to speak of.

Don't go for the gun show. But it's an excellent couple for days !

The times I have gone, I found some military guns out in the vehicle show.

Went last year with the family. It was a pretty fun event, saw some cool military vehicles and it’s neat having the Huey coming in for landings and circling overhead. The gun show itself is definitely small and nothing to write home about but there were some deals out in the general military/flea market area. I picked up a couple of large 81mm mortar ammo cans that were in good shape for like $10 a piece .

Sounds interesting

I'm hoping to make this with a friend.

What are the restroom arrangements? PLEASE tell me it's not Porta Johns. 😬

Its mostly porta-johns but there are a couple buildings with regular bathrooms... like the one back in the woods near the camping area.

Fun to watch people jump whenever they shoot the little 105mm (or whatever it is).

We're planning on Sat.

What is the deal here? Outside displays of military stuff and a gun show inside?

Or is it all open air?

Food trucks?

Yes yes and yes, at least I am pretty sure on the food trucks. Lots of tents set up with military stuff and the gun show inside. You'll also find some gun stuff out in the tents and open air areas.

My best deals have come from the outside area.

It's hard to say who will be there and where they are set up as it could change year to year.
The Bunker out of Aberdeen is setting up and they usually have some cool stuff

I'll be with the 505th PIR WWII Reenactment group.
If you get he time stop by and check us out.

Cool deal, I will def look for the Bunker and the 505th. I do not have the luxury of spare time this weekend, but it'll be a first if I actually am able to stop myself from going, even for only a little while.

My friend should have my cannon down there with the other guns to shoot blanks.

Can confirm one helo that will be there tomorrow, heard him outside and checked ADSBx, and same one from a previous year. Were in comms with KVUJ tower just now.

Dunno if this means no Cobra or not tho. They tend to convoy, but I can't say that is always the case.

EDI can't not can

We just got back, and saw the Huey fly several times, the Cobra only once.

FYI for those going Sunday, eat before you go. Food choices are slim. Just one stand selling lunch

We had a good time, lots to see
