Did You Go Shooting Today

Visiting Battery Oaks today, tried my FN502 Black Friday pistol, it runs real good, my new Beretta Tomcat Inox would fire only one round, hammer locks back and problem is repeatable with magazines removed. Sending it off for warranty repair. ☹️
Sig P229.357, Tisas 1911, S&W 411, Beretta Neos and KelTec KS7. I had the range all to myself, nobody knows how bad I shoot. 😃

My son and I went to DPRC this morning. My son really likes hitting the steel at 300 yards, he shot my 20” AR and 6.5c Bergara. Then we shot some 22 and 45 pistols before leaving. Another good day at the range.

Ruger 380 Max....my carry gun. Hadn't shot it for awhile and wanted to test it for function. Loaded 3 mags of reloads, did a mix of rapid and slow fire off back porch and it never burped. Cleaned it, put it back in the holster with factory loads.

200 rounds of 9mm and 150 rounds of .22LR though M&Ps and a Mark IV respectively.

And then I decided to play "Arthritis Simulator" after a box of .38 Special through an Airweight.

First time shooting in quite a while, and first time at the Wake County Firearms Center. Bought a G48 off my step son and figured I'd put some rounds through it.
After 2 boxes, I can say that I really don't like shooting it. It does carry and conceal quite well, and the gen 5 trigger is better than my gen 3 G23 - but it's still a Glock.
I forgot how bad stock Glock sights actually are, and the recoil is more than I expected from 9mm. I found it harder to shoot, by far than my G23 - likely due to the sights and not really fitting my hand.
Only way I could get a solid grip was to put my support hand index finger on the front strap of the trigger guard, which felt odd. Also ran a couple of boxes of really old 38sp that I picked up from a gun show (15 years ago) through my S&W 65-3.
Not sure how old they actually were, but were super dirty and smokey - but shot well enough in the long run.

WCFC was a decent enough place, especially considering the price! Not nearly as fun as an outdoor pit, but it's 10 min up the road from me, and free, so I can't complain.

I shot at the WCFC range before COVID and Sheriff (King) Baker tried to shut it down for civilians.

I assume you still have to sit through the class to qualify for the range card, is that still the case?

Yessir. It's a quick 15 min class for the first time, and then yearly. Just basic 'keep your booger hook off the bang switch' and then how their RSO process works - which is a bit, uh, government-y.
On the 50m handgun range it's a bit tight, and the tables suck - essentially just a plastic tray. But the rifle side looked a lot more roomy. Overall, it's not a bad experience.

We moved out here from St Louis back in 2019, and I belonged to a private club there that had a bunch of "combat pits". I miss not being stuck at a square range. I've been looking at Woody's, but that's quite a bit further from me, and not sure I want to make that financial commitment quite yet.

At TSA in Raleigh this afternoon for some 38spl revolver therapy GP100 6", Taurus 85, 856. Ran some .357 magnum in the GP100, and 44 spl in the 44, shoots very good, will try 44 magnum next time. I have a new Hogue grip on the way for the 85, stock grip is too small for my fat hand.

First time in over a month!
Range toys were an AR-SBR in 556 with a folding stock and GSL can on the end. 2 AR pistols, one a new build (never shot) 223 and the other one was in 300 BO with a S&W Tracker 30 cal. That gun might have 150 round down range.
The SBR was only shooting single shot. Last time I had this gun at the range, I closed the gas port to remind me to adjust it. After a little adjustment this could be my go to close in gun.
The 223 pistol (never shot) ran great. A little adjustment on the red dot and at 50 yards and was under 2 MOA That is with the $50 red dot that was posted about a month ago. Last up was the 300 BO pistol. No problem with super or subs. The only issue WAS the buffer tube is a round tube with a brace that slides over the tube. It kept turning and sliding. That has since been fixed with a new tube and brace.

Over all a good day.

I had my first 45-70 load work ups that I needed to test, so I rode up to Frontline today to test them out. I didn’t get there until mid afternoon, and I forgot the afternoon sun is low and in-your-face at the rifle range. I got to chrono the loads, but wasn’t really able to shoot groups for accuracy. That 45-70 really pounds the shoulder! Oh, it was also a new Henry All-Weather lever action.

I also shot my Ruger SR22, and Witness 45. I was only there for about 1.5 hrs, but it was good to be at the range.

I love the 45-70! Fun gun to shoot

I think I am really going to like it.

The loads I tested were with Hornady 300 HP bullets. I think I could get > 2000fps out of the 18.5" barrel with H4198, but I'm not particularly looking for hot loads - anything 1700 - 1800 fps will probably do. I liked the results I got with 4895 and 5744, and now that I have a better idea what charge range to work in I'm going to work up some more loads with 3 rounds per charge and check for accuracy. Oh, and I think I will use my lead sled to save my shoulder. :) I've also got a scope (extended eye relief Bushnell) ordered for it.

Get you a limb saver slip on pad. Also, look at the Missouri Bullets in 405 lead.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I tried Missouri Bullets in 30-30 and they did not do well at all. I will see about getting some 405 from them to test.

I did a little shooting today. Ran several rounds through the Tippman Arms M4-22. I figured out it really hates bulk ammo, Remington GB, for sure. First time I shot it [several months ago] I was thinking what POS rifle I had bought. Initially today it was SNAFU with several FTFs, then I switched to Aguila and it didn't miss a beat. ✔️

After that I broke out the Ruger PCC to tweak the Holosun red dot and 3X...got it dialed in at 50m and ran the Magpul drum. ✔️

Anywho, I bet the new neighbors like me as much as the previous ones did. 😅

My range in my back yard about 25 yards below my house. Everyday I walk out there and draw and fire my carry pistol the Canik MC9. I draw the pistol and fire 3 rounds at minimum since the most times a self defense use is 3 rounds fired, with exceptions sometimes of course. Weather and schedule allowed I also fire some of my others such as a 1911, Desert Eagle or Canik SFT. So today while dodging the heavy rain I walked out side and went to the 7 yard marker and fired 3 quick rounds from a quick draw. I took the target down and it started raining again and I was done for day

Wife and I decided to go to TSA this morning. CZ97, Ruger SR22, Witness poly 9mm compact, and Jericho 941. Everything ran flawlessly.

I have the Baby Eagle Polymer 40 S&W, fine shooting pistol just a little heavy for conceal carry. Isn't that comparable to the Jericho?

Nearly identical, except mine is metal frame.

I am a big fan of the CZ pattern guns, particularly the Tanfoglio Witness pistols. The first ones I acquired were two Witness PS (polymer) pistols, 9mm and 40. They are probably very close to your poly Baby Eagle, probably the same mags. In fact, I took the 16 round mag from my Jericho and used it with my wife’s compact 9mm Witness (12 round) at the range today with no problems.

OD green G19 with Advantage Arms .22LR kit and Rugged Oculus, and a P365-380 at TSA yesterday afternoon.

After about a month without practice, got back in with my 1911 & FN. 1911 has new Wilson Combat springs kit, and felt like new gun, both good & bad, lol. But I'm shooting more accurate than I should be with this, lol

I like the bullet holes in the signs above the targets! Where is that?

Heck yes, end of year blow out.

.22LR, .380ACP, .45ACP, 9x19, 10MM, 5.56, and 9x25.

Something crazy happened too. I looked over at my ammo and noticed one of the plastic holders had broken. Then, I realized that a projectile was buried within a separate ammo box. We discussed a few theories then realized that one of my empty ejected cases probably hit the exposed primer on a 10MM round. The projectile went down into the 9x19 box below it. The projectile had no rifling, as expected. We never found the case, but many of the ammo boxes had small bits of shrapnel in them. I've heard about this happening, but never thought it'd happen to me.

Took the HB AR and M1 to the range this afternoon. I hadn't shot the M1 for a couple years because of issues using the iron sights but actually did pretty well today @100yds with Danish M2 ball.

the HBAR is just too easy to shoot and hit with. Using my reloads with 68 gr BTHP and both 2520 and BLC2 shot to 400 yds and did well. A fun afternoon

Got to play with some of my toys yesterday. Put optics on the P322 and P356 XMACRO. Also re sighted in my FV-SR to do some hunting with. I'm digging the optics. Now to make a holster set for the XMACRO.
The P322 was all hits, just not a lot of knockdown power on the 10 yard plate rack.

I actually got a chance to leave early and get out with my dad today for his birthday and shoot at family traditions in Burlington.

Rusty don't begin to describe both of us but i did better than the last time.

No matter how bad this looks to any of you, @beeleafs can attest this is a big improvement for me. 🤣😂🤣
