Sooo sick of the AT& T run around and jacked up billing.
It's canceled tonight.

What's a good digital antenna to run?
We have Roku that I'll bring back in from the Woodshop and look at some of that.
We're thinking well just watch local stuff and get a lot more stuff done than holding down the couch.

I use a generic one from Lowe’s...
I downloaded Pluto tv(free)/crackle(free) plus sling I’m GTG

I've been VERY satisfied with Sling TV for the 3 years I've had it!
I've been trying to get my in-laws to drop DirecTV to lower their bill. $130 just for "cable" is crazy. I told them to get the Direct tv now streaming app...only $40 for 60 + channels.
They are hard headed and absolutely have to have certain news channels.--- Reason they won't do Sling.
I told MIL that she'd probably be happier if she didn't watch Any news.
But she is of the opinion that OAN news is gospel....I told her they all lie...to some extent..or exaggerate something.

Take a look at Direct TV NOW, it is streaming service, I've been on it for over two years,
under $40 a month for two feeds and no cable or sat boxes needed.
Just use a Firestick or Roku. If you have a newer smart tv you are already set to go,
you will need an internet connection.
DVR in the cloud included.

Try the free trial, I think you will like what you see.

Crazy question, does AT&T own DirecTV or what is that connection?

Yes they own the satellite side DirectTV. They started the stream service, DirecTV Now two years ago.
No contracts, no equipment charges, cancel at anytime.

I pay about $40 a month, since I have ATT fiber internet, they now waive the $10 unlimited data fee
as long as I am a DTV Now customer. I don't add on any premium content. My daughter has Hulu but won't share it.:(

This is for two active connections so you can watch different content anywhere, home, office, on your phone with the DTV app. I went from $130 a month for Time Warner to $40 for same content and more. I also get the local TV stations, they only had one two years ago.

Yeah, umm... No.
AT&T will not get another red cent from us. Their billing is designed to shake you down with incorrect late fees, changing the due date and making up late fees. Hoping people just give up and pay it. They kept an inactive credit card on file and would try to bill it, then file a late fee. My wife would be on the phone for an hour or more to straighten it out with an apology and money off the next bill. Just to do it all again the next month.

When We called today to cancel. It was back to back 20 mins on hold for the right dept. they they wanted to ask exit question. I told them " no, I'm answering questions ". Her reply was, I'm just doing my job.
I tried to tell her again I wasn't answering questions... She hung up on us...

Another 2 - 2o min waits on hold, and finally got ahold of the right person,

Never again, .. Ever.

I thought it was funny when I called to cancel like you I called and told them what I wanted luckly got transfered to right dept and guy set it up for that day and he said well i cannot offer you a better deal at this time but ill transfer you to another dept that sometimes can do better but ill set up the cancelation so said sure it was set to go off at midnight then I ask wasn’t it payed up threw end of billing cycle and he said yes and made it active for that day instead after I questioned it. So then get transfered depts (retention dept then) well what do you know a better deal half what it was nice guy talked for a while promissed me it was best they could do and he said i had till the time it was cut off and accept the deal and gave me a direct number to call them back but it was best deal and would go up if I let it expire. After thinking about it decided I would let it cancel guess what after it expired next week I got a offer from them in the mail for even less. I was over it by that point and decided I could do something better with that money and time.

I tried the HULU live but found out I couldn't watch it from another IP address with means I couldn't watch from work. That's where I do 90% of my watching so I went back to regular HULU.

SlingTV is good too.

I wasn’t able to watch from Myrtle but I do watch at school after hours fairly regularly.

YouTube TV if it’s available in your area and you have fast enough internet.
We have YouTube TV and DSL from the idiots at CenturyLink.
Tonight I was watching on my phone and my wife was watching Netflix, all on a stinky measly 10Mb circuit.
Not ideal, but it works for us until better internet service shows up out here in the stix.

When I canceled 8 months ago, same thing. The girl asked “Well what are you going to do for viewing entertainment ?” I guess she didn’t like “download more porn” cause she hung up.

Daniel, did you put any kind of amplifier or splitter? Is it hooked up just to one TV?

It was at one time feeding two. Used a splitter. Work fine. Now just one tv and still just as good.

Havent had the need for an amplifier, just found the right compass setting for maximum reception and tightened it down.

I have an older tv antenna in the garage attic and added a newer model for off the air,
I feed them into a powered amplifier to the two sets in the house using existing cable coax. (no TWC connection).
We rarely watch off the air since my Direct TV Now has the locals included.
DTV also has DVR in the cloud included.

My plan is to use the old Dish mount. ( it's on the roof ) it has a direct line of sight toward the northwest where I should point it. It already has coax connected to the 4 TVs I have.
Of course I have to run amplifiers. Not sure if one amp on the main run will be sufficient , or one added before each TV.
More research is needed.

I could watch on the iPad or phone but not from the fire stick on a real TV

Yup, that’s what they said I could do. I had bought a Roku for our room and if I was willing to change that to our “home” location, it would have been fine. My wife nixed that because it would have meant my mother and MIL would have to watch MB locals at home.

The splitter/ amp I bought had enough gain to overcome the loss by splitting the signal.
Works rather well even though I never finished cabling for more than the 2 TVs I started with.
