I just picked up a Mossberg MVP rifle. I need about an extra inch of length of pull on it. There doesn’t seem to be much (by much, I mean any) Mossberg or aftermarket parts available to do this. Best I’ve seen is someone figured out a Pachmeyer Limbsaver pad made for Winchester/Remington rifles fits to within 1/16”, but doesn’t add much length of pull.

Has anyone DIY’ed a spacer(s) out of plastic or hard rubber?

What’s stopping me from getting some sort of hard rubber like a horse stall matt, tracing the buttstock shape, and cutting it to rough size. Then grind/sand as needed.

Would kydex work as a spacer material?

I has scraps.....
How thick is the thickest piece? Like I said, I need to go about an inch longer.

I've done this using wood - poplar is easy to sand to shape and stain it any color u want.
Jigsaw to rough shape and finish with drum sander attachments in the drill press - works great.
Home Depot has assorted thicknesses of hardwoods like this in one of the back aisles near molding and trim etc. Might need to double up two half inch pieces for a full inch.

Or slip on recoil pads that add an inch are available.

I’ve got some pieces of poplar sitting in my shop. Didn’t think of wood. Have to see if the stock has a concave curve or not. If it does I’ll have to do a lot of thin ones.

Not hard to do a spacer. Find a board of approximate thickness. Drill holes to match existing pad/stock. Screw it to the stock to hold it in place. Outline the stock shape on the spacer material. Remove from stock. Trim close with a saw and then use a 90* belt or disk sander down to the outline. Fine tune finish accordingly. This gives you a straight spacer. If you want the custom finished angled look, you can adjust your sander table to match for the most part and then fine tune as you go.

I ended up going with a Pachmayr Renegade slip-on pad. It added about an inch of LOP and is much more comfortable sighting through the scope now. Mission accomplished...until I get time to go sight it in!

If you need 1"... I've bought a lot of this Starboard offcuts from this guy in the last year. Enough for the UPS guy to hate me as most were in the 50lb range. This is HDPE and super stable, machines very nicely, but there isn't a glue that will stick. His shipping has been really good out of Norfolk. I usually buy several pieces to spread out the shipping.

I'm assuming you want black so here is his black Starboard https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_dkr=1&iconV2Request=true&_ssn=hman16&store_cat=0&store_name=norvaplasticsinc&_oac=1&_nkw=1" black
