Do I want a Sig or a CZ?

Really? “Terrible to shoot”?

Never heard of such a thing. A CZ75 that shoots terrible. You may have found the only one! Mine had over 30K through it. Pleasant, accurate, and reliable. Although, I did put quite a few custom parts on it.
could be. but that's O'k. I survived without CZ75 😎

I certainly enjoyed reading the 'fan boys' from the two brands. Perhaps I'm old school - and actually shot each side by side and not just a box of ammo each. As I was spending my hard earned money, I wanted to get what fit me best as far as grip, recoil, accuracy.....Went to a local rental range and put 150 rounds of various ammo through each firearm (1 CZ, 1 Sig). For me, the Sig felt better in my hand, recoil was the same across both brands, but the Sig, IMHO, was more consistently accurate. I bought a P229, followed shortly by a P226.

sure. I have couple. CZ Custom and Tanfoglio. But they are clones. There is also a line CZ Shadow-Orange etc... Only good reviews. I still prefer custom on 1911 platform.

Not usually that guy, but I’m gonna be that guy. CZ custom guns unless it is the A01 model are usually modified production CZ guns, not clones. The orange line of CZs are the top of the line of their race guns, shadow, tac sport, tac sport 2, I have one of each and they shoot like lasers. Have had 3 tanfos that did not come close to comparing to my production CZs, much less my cajun gun works modified ones. I guess that goes to show individual results may vary.

Yep. Tanfos are decent guns. But, indeed, the triggers are not great and need a lot of work. Whereas, a Shadow2 for example, is pretty great out of the box.
Even the SA tanfos like the Limited posted above is creepy and pretty bad. They all (tanfos) have firing pin blocks, so it takes work to make them decent. While the CZ Tactical Sports are great and under 2.5lbs out of the box.

150 rounds? Stop the presses we got and oldschool badass here.

Was the "CZ trigger creep" issue with an omega series gun? The omegas (user changeable safety/decocker) have mediocre triggers to accommodate that stupid party trick that no one actually cares about.

My factory SP01 had a way smoother trigger than any 226/229 I've personally felt. And the sky is the limit with CGW spice, the CZ can be loved up in a way a sign just can't.

I have owned both and like both, but for diff reasons. The CZ have a low slide profile and that makes it tough for my chubby little hades to get a good grip on it. My chubby little hands have also been injured on the trigger finger, which makes the CZ trigger hard on someone with nerve damage. I may be able to use it now, but in the past it has prevented accurate manipulation of the trigger due to the pressure point. The CZ Shadows are an exceptional firearm and run like a top. I like them quite a bit.

That being said, Sig gives you an enormous depth of options for style, weight, etc. You can shoot 20 different types of SIG's before finding the one you really like.

SO, If I am parting with money..... I am buying the CZ Shadow first. If I love it, then case closed and I can await more information about the Sig. If I can't get into the CZ for whatever reason, then I move on to the first Sig I believe will most likely be my cup of tea. I have wasted so much money to get "experiences" with firearms, that I am a bit jaded when it comes to comparisons. I like them all, but some do better than others with this little fat man.

I would say that it depends on what you want to spend. I got a Sig M17 for $649.00, and boy does it shoot well. I've always been drawn toward Glocks, specifically the 17's. The M17, or P320, whatever you want to call it, is just great for the price. I mean, depending on where you live, I got two, 21-round mags, and one, 17-round mag with it. I've only shot one CZ before, don't remember what model, but I wasn't overwhelmed by it at all. I still preferred Glocks over the CZ's, but now I prefer my M17 over Glocks!

I agree. I have owned a g26 and a g30s. Both shot well but, never felt a good in my hand. I lean towards 1911. Just my preference.

I love both my and my wife's carry weapon which are sig 228s. However, I really really really like my two Caniks which are just CZ knockoffs. I have a feeling that if I practiced more with them, they would supplant the sigs.

My 2 cents is Sig is my pick. I love the Glock reliability and popularity of their guns. I have never owned a CZ but had considered it a few times only to decide against it. I did get a Sig 365 and an Sig P320X compact. I plan to get a 226 or 228/229 next. I like the Sigs more than I ever imagined I would but, more importantly I shoot them both better then my Glock 19 or 43. Each person will have differing opinions but you ultimately have to get what works for your situation

I have a BUNCH of Glucks, and actually am looking at getting a G44 (the .22lr) simply because they are so stinking reliable. I have a Sig Mosquito and an old Hi Standard for .22 lr and am nosing around for a .22 so Carole and I can practice together. I made a couple of offers on the forum for a Taurus and a G44 but nothing has dropped yet. I buy guns like I trade equities/futures/commodities. I make a LOW offer that I think is barely on the edge of reasonable, and then wait on the market to come to me. Sometimes it does... more often it doesn't, but when I make a purchase, I can almost always say I got a good deal. I do have to get my permit situation fixed and told the folks so, and that may be why I have not been overwhelmed with responses, as well.

As a Glock and 1911 guy, do I want a Sig or a CZ? I'm thinking of broadening my horizons...

9mm only
Range use
Unlikely to carry as it would have to displace a G19, a G43, and a Shield

Sell me.
I just bought a 320 & 365 macro with comped barrel…total impulse purchase.

Will be here next week

Part of what makes this discussion interesting is the sheer number of choices available.

SIG: you got the metal classics. You got the spendy X5/X6 metal guns. You got your 320 plastic guns, which have a pretty nice selection within the 320 umbrella including the tungsten grip dealies. You got yer small 365 carry gun line that is interesting.
So a guy has choices within the range, and may like some and not others.

CZ: anything from a $450 plastic guns (with hammer or striker). The lower end metal guns like basic CZ75 to the mid range metal guns like Sp-01/P-01 on up to the Tac Sports and even a $3500 Chechmate Open Gun. From a 9lb DA to a 5lb striker to a sub 2lb. SA trigger.

Lots of good choices and lots of things to try. We got first world problems when it comes to gun choices!

Agreed, throw out price and I’ll take a custom 1911 almost every time. They are awesome. But a custom CZ or Beretta is not too far behind,
1911's here Clark Customs (old ones) Bomar full rib, Bar-sto.., even the ole Colt NM
Sig's old 250 Compact, then 220, No CZ's but shot some. you just never know..

I had a Sig P226, that I replaced with a CZ P01 Omega. The CZ is lighte, fits my hand better, better to carry (alloy frame) and was significantly less $$$$$. My vote is CZ.

… The orange line of CZs … shoot like lasers.

I have owned and shot both a Sig 320 Legion x5 and a CZ TSO and there was no comparison - the TSO shot more accurately and quicker than the x5, by a long shot. I’d still own that x5 today except, that ridiculously lonnnnnnnnnnng reeeeeeeeeessssssssettttttt. Ugh.

OP, whatever you buy, Best o’ Success!

I don't see where CZ striker fired guns have any advantage over Sig striker fired guns. To be fair I've only owned one striker fired CZ, a P-10F. It's a fine weapon, but not compared to my P320s, from basic to X-Five Legion.

I have two steel frame CZs, which can be compared to P226s/P229s I've owned. To me, the CZs are a little raw, unrefined. Now I don't think that about CZ Shadow 2s, which I haven't owned but have shot and handled. CZ 75s come with sights that almost always need to be replaced, at least to be serviceable in competition shooting.
Not apples to apples, but my first P320, a Tacops, came with upgraded sights, a good trigger which I upgraded to a Grayguns model, and 4 21-rd magazines. For the price it would be hard to buy a CZ and upgrade it to match.

I have had hit and miss with Sigs but never ever been disappointed with CZ, from pistols to rifles and shotguns, all are reliable, fun to shoot and accurate, I had many classes with various CZ pistols and carbines(Bren and Scorpion) that required 1500-2000 rounds during two day courses and actually during one pistol/carbine course, one instructor told me I will never learn how to clear malfunctions if I keep shooting CZs!

I absolutely love my shadow 2, with palm swells and just a couple small modifications to the trigger you have a gun that for the money isn't even in the same league as most sigs. The CZ design is unique and copied for a great reason. Even with the stock trigger in the CZ it still has my vote. I did a pre b disconnector, competition hammer and 13 lb hammer spring in my shadow 2 and love the trigger. Firm wall and breaks like glass!

I like Glocks and 1911’s. Last year I picked up an X-5 Legion, next a CZ Shadow. The X5 is a sharp looking pistol that has things to offer, except suitable accuracy considering its cost and the extras added. The Shadow will dust them in every category except as a carry gun, and I say that because of its weight. ,It is the most accurate pistol I’ve shot.
