Do you bother getting anal about form 1 info after building?

Its meaningless. Id put more inches than what Im thinking though in case u change ur mind when u start building it. Might want to go a bit shorter or longer, just try not to go longer than what u put on the form 1.... (As in you put 5" and end up making it 10" that big of a difference)

Just as info…

The length you put is your best guess. There is no “ok to go shorter but not longer” rule in this situation. That only applies for repairs.

If you filed for 5”, and end up building 10” because of material availability, or some other reason, that’s ok. The proper way to handle it is send in a letter saying that the initial build ended up being 10”, please update the registry. This is the answer the director of the NFA Division gave sometime in the last several years.

That being said, estimate the best you can. I have several that no longer match their forms.

Ok good to know. Ive read some time back on silencertalk I believe it was, from what I got from it was dont go over what you put down, I just put 12" and build whatever below that is what I've always done. I dont get technical about that how many inches mess lol

Lol, well he didn’t last long…which former user was this one?
someone called him out in another thread as being a "notacop" alias. Not sure if true or not, but the timing is funny. He seemed as abrasive as the original notacop regarding leo and atf rules.

That sounds about right.

I put a number on the form that I think might approximate the length of the can. Then I build the can and it end up whatever length it ends up. Then I never look at the form again.

No one cares about the minor details. As long as you have a stamped form with the right serial number you're good.
