I go on vacation on the 29th of this month and I'm heading to Duck NC. We are renting a huge house down there so I wanted to check and see if anyone wanted to go. There are 4 master suites and 3 other bedrooms. A buddy of mine from work is going so there are only 2 couples so far. We are both seriously into fishing and I'll tell you that I'm pretty well obsessed with it. My wife knows that if she wants to do anything else, she will be doing it alone. Let me know if your interested. It's a really nice place.

What's the fishing like in and around DUCK? I'm thinking that I may have to drive south to get on a bite.

Duck is a quaint little town nice for dining, shopping and strolling along the soundside boardwalks. If he is staying in Duck, the surf fishing is pretty good if you can find a quiet spot. Most fish off the piers in Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills. Hope this helps

Our family from up north used to rent a house in Duck for a few years for a week and we'd all pile in. I still prefer south of Hatteras. It is nice and quiet as it is way up there. We piled in trucks and drove on the beach to VA. On the beach your best bet looking for changes in the beach. If you want to go on a boat you'll need to head down south to Wancheese or Manteo or go farther south to Hatteras for additional surf fishing. Note the beach is for 4x4 stuff only not AWD or corvettes as the sand is very soft and deep when you first get on, air down. The locals have no problem taking pictures of your stuck butt and laughing when ya tried to drive a car on the beach. Check out the facebook page Outerbanks idiots. I think the rules for driving on the beach are changing this year so check out the gas station on the left in Duck (if going north) for the proper permits etc. Up there, they are obsessive over the horses don't go close or they'll fine ya. Check out the waterfowl museum and if you want to spend a little the Whale Head Club. I climbed the lighthouse for fun, good views. Many of the stores are manned by European Students on summer vias some were pretty fun to talk to.

At the Manteo airport I think the guy just got a T-6 this winter to add to his WACO if you are into WWII aviation.

Also for anyone else reading if you have a family member that can't walk to well, flag down the police driving by. Once they found out my grandmother needed help they drove her to our beach spot from the house 3rd row, a few times out of courtesy.

Thanks. I'll give it a shot before I head south. I pretty much just surf fish but was thinking of hitting the Rodanthe pier at least once. I'm hoping the Pompano are running when I get down there. All my sticks are pretty long for the pier but I may pick up something for that. I like spending some coin on new fishing gear.

Can't remember the name of the store, but I used to deliver to a store in Nags Head whose tagline is "Biscuits and Porn". Need I say more?

Thanks. We usually rent a place in Ocracoke for the week. I like it down there because the beach's are usually pretty empty this time of year and the fishing is pretty good.

I've been to Corolla before and saw the horses. That was pretty cool but I'll be honest, if I'm not standing in the surf with a few rods out, I feel like I'm wasting time. I don't know how my wife puts up with it. I may head up to Corova and fish one day and see what the bite looks like.

I've had to pull out quite a few people at the beach in the past. I'm actually a little worried this year. I have always had a jeep on the beach in the past but this year I'll be in a 4x4 tundra with 20" tires. That doesn't give my tires a lot of room to spread out when I air them down. I have on board air so I'll drop them down to 15lbs and see how they do. Hopefully I don't make someone's YouTube channel.:D

Choppers 8-12lbs are still holding down south of Lookout so you should have some up your way. They're being caught from the beach here and there. Also the first of the Cobia have just started to show up this weekend.

Cobia is a great fighting fish and also are very tasty to eat. Good luck with the fishing buddy.
