Durham county gun buy back announced

Open to anyone or just city/county residents? :D 100 bucks for a broken 22 single shot rifle that I couldn't get 20 dollars for sounds great!
Does say operational but as long as it seems to dry fire…

I hear gang members are lined up to return their weapons

I kind of wish I had some crap guns to take to check this out.

If it were closer, I’d love to just stand back and watch. Would be interesting to understand how many of the “sellers” are actually risks to the community.

The Durham Co Stadium maybe but Mount Vernon BC is not a place to go just to “check out”. It is in the zone where 90% of Durham shootings occur just north of NCCU. I guess the idiots organizing it think it would be more convenient for gangbangers in the area and they’d get more guns turned in …
Oh, I know better than to hang out in that Hayti area unless I need to. The stadium is up there by Duke Regional and would be closer for me anyway.

Are you a city/county resident? is a question. No questions asked.

I bet they have funding to buy <100 guns though.

If I was home, I'll drive there and set up a table across from Mathieu18 at entrance. Have my C&R license tape to table.

Strength in numbers if we setup a buying fair. And we’d be helping take even more off the streets?

It would test that - how much money do they have theory- for sure. If i sold 30 of em id have enough for a nice python.

Seriously considering making some zip guns or slam fire shotguns for this. Anyone have experience with doing this sort of thing?
manufacturing firearms with the intent to sell, even to buybacks, requires a manufacturers license. people have been hit with this in the past.

It would be bad form to set up a table next to them offering $50 more than what they are, correct?
Good luck. Both locations are on private property and you'll get booted out fast if you go in trying.
some local businesses will let you camp in their lots, some homeowners will let you sit in their yard. get permission first. and when the cops go to privately talk to them to encourage them to rescind that permission, just move along.
You can also walk up and down the sidewalk, but you run the risk of "loitering".
Know your laws because the cops will make things up on the spot and act like they're the authorities.

you'll need to organize and take turns. you don't want to convince somebody to sell you their gun for $250 only to have somebody else suddenly jump in and offer $300... that's annoying.

So, let's say someone steals my gun and then sells it to the Sheriff........... Do I get it back? Asking for a friend.
I was told by someone who had a firearm stolen in Durham and recovered in another case that they had to prove they had purchased the firearm … basically produce the original sales receipt … to get it back. Even then court/sheriff or whoever made him jump thru so many hoops it was silly. Now add in that the county takes custody in a buy back and you don’t know it I seriously doubt that fat fart or any of his minions are going to do any work to try and reunite a person and his property … I am betting it’s going off to be scraped ASAFP.

Durham Co.PoPo gun buy back update. Started at 2pm , I arrived at 2:10 and heard one of the deputies announcing they were out of money. A gentleman in line told me the first several people there had 8-10 weapons each. Scary/unsafe operation. There were about 15-20 people in line holding uncovered firearms that were not checked by police until they reached the front of the line. Plenty of sweeping. I left right away.
