Eform 4

So if i just filed a paper a few weeks ago is there a way to upgrade it to efile? Or should i just cancel the paper and refile it as an efile?

Maybe they finally upgraded to Windows XP.

I hope this turns out to be true, I had to wait between 9-10 months for my most recent approved transfers, and the two I still have pending are right at 10 months now.

The downside of eForm 4s will be the likelihood it will cost me even more money in stamps and items just like the introduction of eForm 1s did.

Procrastination pays off. Going to do my paperwork tomorrow and seems like I'll be in the fast lane. 😁
I’ll be working on getting my RPQ and Trust exemption statement ready. Need to roll a couple FP cards as well.

My F3 was 5 days.
Scott said his have been running between 2 days and 2 weeks. Just never know. Also depends on how promptly Lipsey’s submits it.

I just had Scott order me a can so I can see how fast these come back. Hopefully the F3 is approved in <2 weeks.

They going to hold it till the Eforms goes live? Might be worth doing to squeak one in before the BOGO ends

Scott is going to hold it, if that’s what you’re asking. I’ll have everything ready for him to submit it as soon as he can in eForms. Then he’ll send me the cover sheet and I’ll send in the prints. (Assuming it’s going to work the same way as it currently does for a Form 1)

Great news, soon as I move I will start the process on another can.

It will use a .eft file just like the security clearance process has been useing. According to silencershop their kiosks are already able to create this file type and they plan to offer it as a service just like they currently will mail you a paper copy they will email a .eft file.

Otherwise you will probably have to find a law enforcement agency with the right machines and is willing to send you the file after rather than just printed cards.

so what you're saying is that if i finally get that osprey .45 and a second mount to fit it on 9mm guns... i'll get that AND another 9mm can, in shorter time than ever before.
darn shame money is tight right now... but credit cards spread the pain out over months...

in state or out of state? in state kind of doesn't matter since the paperwork for eforms is all email and not real paper... as long as you pick it up at the instate dealer with an instate address, i don't think they'll care.

Out of state. Moving to Arizona next month.

Just saw this news. My paperwork was mailed in October, sucks I can't resubmit. But hopefully they won't pull the website like they did last time

How long was the wait last time we had eforms?

I have been sitting on trust paperwork for about a year doing the same thing (procrastinating) 😆.

If they get the paperwork processing down to as fast as 30 to 90 days, I'd imagine quite a few more people will be jumping on the NFA train.

I wonder if suppressor prices will go up, down, or stay unchanged based on the faster processing times....

Short of abolishing the NFA completely, I'd say this is good progress.

Silencershop and capital armory are going to crash the system....mark my words. They did it before. They'll do it again
Guaranteed. Between them and when Capitol Armory gets their logistics figured out in those 8 or 9 states, I guarantee they cripple it for a period of no less than 3-4 months.

I was told yesterday they were actually going to be in ~30 states. 😳

And what they’re doing is setting up an FFL at an existing dealer’s address.

So....not to be be killjoy or anything but has anyone heard anything about this that is not referencing silencershop's statement. Cause that is all I have seen.

Yes. I’ve heard it from multiple sources.

Here’s another:

And another:

The statement from capitol matches what I know has been happening behind the scenes. For sure. Especially that it has been an "any time this month status " for all of 2021 but that is a different statement than giving a hardish date for going live that silencershop has done. It's been the worst kept secret in the industry that they were working on a complete revamp. The date range is the part I am questioning far more than the program's existence.

Orchid's statement mentions an announcement from the atf but I still haven't seen the official announcement directly.

Question becomes is the atf stupid enough to release a new mostly untested system into the wild ? I would say yes. I remember Healthcare.gov rollout.

Don't get me wrong. I would like it to go live. But I have heard this song for so long now from so many sources I would like to see actual official statements from the powers that be before I get excited.

Who can we deal with near Winston on the can situation? Driving to Charlotte scares me. Want a couple more Dead Airs.

Now I will believe

This is an advance notice to current eForms users about the upcoming launch of a new version of ATF eForms.

The goal of this “modernized eForms” is to provide ATF with an infusion of technology to provide better services to our industry members and the public. This much needed modernization will reduce the effort and time required to review and process ATF applications by incorporating online validations and other enhancements.

No action is needed at this time. However, there are some required steps you'll need to complete after the upgrade is finished (details below).

Outage period

In order to facilitate this upgrade, eForms will be offline during the following time frame:

Upgrade Start: Friday, December 17 at 9 p.m.

Tentative Finish: Tuesday, December 21 at 6 a.m.

You can continue to use the existing eForms until the upgrade starts at 9 p.m. next Friday. During the upgrade time frame, however, eForms will be unavailable.

What you need to know

The web address of eForms is not changing. If you have bookmarked eForms in your browser, it will automatically access the new eForms.

Your eForms User ID is not changing. All your previous submissions will transfer to the new system.

Required steps after upgrade

We're updating the eForms login process to provide enhanced security and establish a trusted relationship between the user and ATF. Here's what you'll need to do after Dec. 21:

  1. After the upgrade, you'll need to manually reset your password before you can log in for the first time.
  2. Once you log in with your new password, the system will ask you to update your user profile information and create a security PIN.
Please review our step-by-step guide with screenshots, but do not complete these steps until the upgrade is complete on Dec. 21:

Existing Users - First Time Login Steps (docx, 1.75 MB)

📄
New Users - First Time Login Steps (docx, 1.33 MB)

What to expect

Once the upgrade is finished, you may notice a few changes in the eForms interface. Here's what to expect:

  • ATF eForm 4 is coming back. After the upgrade, you will be able to submit the ATF Form 4 electronically through eForms.
  • Electronic submission of ATF Forms 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 6A, 9, 10 and 5300.11 with the required electronic documents.
  • Electronic submission of fingerprint cards for ATF Form 4. You will be able to attach your “digital fingerprint cards” to your submission.
  • Support for larger file attachments. The updated eForms will accept electronic documents up to 30 MB in size.
  • Enhanced validations to ensure that the upfront validations of your data occur prior to submission.
  • User PIN for validating the submission of all forms as part of the submission process.
  • Self-service support for forgotten passwords and PINs.
  • Rules of behavior that must be accepted to proceed with the use of eForms.
  • “Ask the Expert” to send your questions to our subject matter experts.
  • Use of smarter technology to improve customer service and build a foundation for future enhancements such as an Application Programming Interface (API) and Captcha.

In our efforts to provide you continuous support through this transition, we have created five temporary email mailboxes to help us assist you:

I sent them a couple questions based on ^that^ email.

This email just mentions electronic submission of fingerprints for Form 4s. Which leads me to two questions:

1. Will we still have the option to submit actual FP cards with a cover sheet instead?
2. Will we be able to submit fingerprints for Form 1 applications if we get a copy of the .eft file from our dealer?

#1 should be yes, since not all dealers would have scanners. Hoping #2 is also a yes.

ETA: I see BW is ahead of me in above post …

Anyone know where I can get digital fingerprints near Charlotte area?

I am set to get physical prints this week but wondering if i can submit those with an efile form 4.

I would imagine that scanning in a paper one would work. I know several sheriff offices who won't give you a digital copy of your fingerprints

Check with @TARHEELSTATE and see if he’ll do it. I know he has a new scanning setup after the last one died.
