How would one go about finding out which capacitor a 1hp motor that pulls 8 Amps would need if the capacitor is missing and there are no numbers on the motor.

Hitachi b16rm drill press.
Start capacitor I assume. The guy I got it from said the motor would only Humm and not start. They had attempted to fix and I guess at some point took the capacitor off. It is one that mounts under a cover on the side of the motor.
If push come.to shove I can just buy another motor but I would rather use this one if I can get it to run.

That's the problem. There is no data plate or any numbers anywhere on the motor.

Two wires. It was under one of those covers that fits on the side of the motor and looks like a tumor growing on it.
