Electronic Mouse repellent a gimmick ?

I set a regular old snap trap the other night under the sink because I noticed the cats in the kitchen acting more retarded than normal.
This morning my wife walked into the kitchen to find the cats had broken in to the cabinet at were slapping the dead mouse still in the trap around the kitchen floor like a hockey puck.

To keep somewhat on topic I am considering shock collars for the cats but I foresee some technical issues fitting the collars on the mice.

My parents bought one of those electronic bug and pest repellant things once and some how it ended up here. I found a giant spider sleeping on it one night so I kicked them both out. I use one of these now

They'll run right in it, no bait needed. I always put the holes in line with a wall edge and I can hear em run in it if I get one while I'm watching tv at night. You hear a small clang, and the tiniest little muttering of the word "shit".

Then I take em out and stomp em.

If you're not willing to do that get some of those that are round and you wind em up. It wraps the mouse up in there and kills him and you throw the whole thing away

Based on the one I bought it is a waste of money.

I've got three of them, just like the picture, in the Colorado house and I can't tell that they do anything.

Good ole snap trap and peanut butter. I did have a couple that were masters of licking the trigger clean. Wrapped trigger with cotton string and peanut butter.....SNAP!

Actually caught two this morning in 5 minutes. The trap I set last night snapped at 0600 under my chest of drawers. Pulled out the trap, dumped the devil in the toilet. Set the trap back, and crawled back in bed. Before I could get the covers pulled back up it snapped again ;)

Electronic repellers? Hahahahaha!

Damn, you got a mouse problem Willie

I'll trade you 1,000,000,000 Asian ladybugs for 5 of your mice.

I found the place where they were coming into the basement and sealed it up. Got 12 in the Tomcat plastic traps with peanut butter and about 8 in glue traps with peanut butter. Never had this many in all 18 years in this house.

and about 8 in glue traps with peanut butter

I've been using glue traps out west. I'm going to start putting a dab of peanut better in the center of the sheet. I've got some that can lick the peanut butter off the trigger of a snap trap too.

I knew you could find one!

I just got through a pretty massive rat infestation. You have to take a multi faceted approach. If they're getting into your house then you have to block every possible entrance. Most people would say steel wool, but I had some larger holes that I needed blocked. I used steel wool which I sprayed with great stuff pest block. It works well.
Secondly I used a two step poison approach. First was actual rodenticide, but that can take weeks to work. So after some searching I found out something pretty clever. Take drywall mud dust mix and put it in a bowl with oats, marshmallows, or anything else a rodent will eat and leave it out where they will get it. They eat the stuff, and it turns into a rock in their digestive system. Tummy ache for the SOBs that no amount of bran muffins will alleviate.
Lastly is good ol' fashion snap traps. I took it a step further and glued some nails to the end of the trap because some kept escaping. After that they stopped getting out.
It took about 10 days or so, but they're gone. The wife suggested a cat, but with a 90 lb doberman and a lab with hyper active prey drive that idea got shot down quickly.

I just bought a pack of the electronic qizmos and I can say without a doubt that they do not work. I know because after having them plugged in in various locations around the house I just caught and disposed of(don't ask if you are squimish) no less than 5 of the critters yesterday. :(

Forgot to say it was with glue boards and Herseys Kisses. They can't resist those things.
