One of the downstairs toilets wasn't flushing correctly so I installed a new Fluidmaster and flapper, problem solved, good for me.. Then LJ says one of the upstairs toilets isn't flushing at all!! I never go up there, nothing for me.. So another new fluidmaster and flapper and then I noticed that the tank bolts looked to be on their last leg so I replace them and the gasket so it's done right!!
Feeling all proud of my plumbing skills and looking to cause a Union walkout I check the other upstairs bath. Just as I suspected, doesn't flush right and the tank bolts look sketchy. Back to Lowe's Highway Robbery for more parts, 2nd trip in less than 4 hours. I asked an employee where I could pick up my paycheck since I seem to spend so much time there, got a blank stare....
Get home, re-build the 2nd upstairs toilet, look for more toilets up there, couldn't find any so I come downstairs and vow to never go up there again.
Then I begin thinking about the 2nd downstairs toilet, this is beginning to have a real dejavu feeling about it then I remember that about 3 or 4 years ago I did the same thing to all 4 toilets so I don't even bother to check the 4th toilet I just go back to Lowe's Highway Robbery and get the Fluidmaster, flapper and a new set of tank bolts. Do the job and finally make myself a drink and sit down.
Get to thinking, why in hell do we have 4 toilets and there's only 2 of us?? Can't come up with a good answer so I turn the water off to one upstairs and one downstairs. Just cut my future plumbing work by 50%.. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!

Sounds good! Lol I think it's a good idea when you have to rebuild one to redo them all. Redid both of the ones in a friends house a while back. Fun

Of course once the ubend dries out it's gonna start to stink.

So true. I lived in a condo that had a laundry room with a floor drain. Every 2 months I had to dump 1/2 gal of water down it. If I didn't the trap would dry out and the wife would blame me for farting.

Know the feeling, have three bathrooms and there is one of me. I go upstairs about once a year to clean the toilets and dust. Wish I could cut the house in half and sell the upstairs, but I like the land where I live.

We used to have that problem with the worst room in the hotel I worked at. It was only used when we were totally booked which meant the ubend would dry out every so often and start letting gas out.

My incredibly technical fix? Flush it. Housekeepers couldn't quite figure that out without my intervention and I don't know any Spanish.

Did you tell your wife which ones you turned off?

I put a piece of crime scene tape across the lid.....

I can help with that...

"puta, con las manos..." *flush toilet* "esta bueno ahora"

loosely translated, means "nice lady, use your hands. All good now"

Are you putting anything in the tanks? RE; those big bleachy blue tablets or similar for that fresh flush?
Those things kill tank innards.

@Bailey Boat , Would you like for me to change your title to Fecal Engineer?

Well I don't work there any more, but good to know.
