I’ve pretty much worn out a plain-jane Mr Coffee coffee maker. The 4 cup model, which basically brews two average mugs of joe. Perfect for me. Uses 4 cup disposable paper filters which is great for getting rid of ALL the coffee grounds, without futzing around with the reusuable filter and getting a bunch of grounds down in your kitchen sink P-trap that stops up a year later. Dammit...

And as is the case with most any product I like and try to buy another at a later date, they. quit. making it.

I guess if I was an environmentally conscious greenie weenie, I would be glad that they now make a re-usable coffee filter. Never mind how much water you have to use to clean it out. Hey, I thought we’re supposed to conserve water?!

For the record, I use lots of paper plates, too.

If you stop using paper plates, sea turtles will stop snorting coke off them with those plastic straws that’s always stuck in their noses

I probably orta quit drinking coffee anyway. Jacks my blood pressure up in the morning.

I can’t drink coffee and read the news at the same time otherwise I might bust an aneurysm.

I don’t have an aneurysm that I know of, but like needing guns and fire extinguishers, you just never know...

Tap the grounds into the trash, then rinse the strainer. This is my favorite coffeemaker.

It’s now on Amazon for $100
Amazon product ASIN B09RBF6FCG

coffee grounds rinsed from the strainer settle in a p trap in my experience.

Edit to add-

But it was in the church basement where we brewed joe for the adult Sunday school classes in a 1928 building, so it might not be so bad in a new house.

I just prefer easy clean-up, rather than adding to a chore.

I live in a crappy ancient trailer and I've been rinsing out my coffee filter for years there, never had an issue.

By the way, buy 2 and you probably won't have to ever buy another one. As @Chdamn said in another thread, at your advanced age you don't have that much life ahead of you.
My mother is 90, and ain’t going anywhere anytime soon.

I saw that. They took my $20 coffee maker, with a glass pot, added a stainless steel pot to it, so I can’t see what’s in it, and jacked the price up to $70.
Just get a cheapo Walmart one, I think my current one was $12 or so.

I broke the glass carafe on my favorite cone-filter coffeemaker a few years ago; no factory or authorized replacement carafes, and the "universal" one ain't.

Preferring my old fuddy duddy ways, I went store-shopping. ALL the available coffeemakers were basket-style models.

Internet search turned up $$$ Cafe' Maquers, for discriminating tastes, which I lack.

FInally found the updated bells & whistle model of the Cuisinart whose carafe I'd busted - at Home Depot's website. Only available online. But it was 20 bucks & free ship to store, so I ordered it. The bells-n-whistles device now sits in storage, and the newer carafe works fine in the original basic unit. I shoulda bought 2...

The moral of my story: Don't give up! Just be a stubborn ol' coot and buy 2 when you find it.

If you have a disposal in the sink they don't. I'm at 18+ years of rinsing and no clogs yet.
You could put a paper filter in the mesh basket they want you to rinse, or you could put a paper towel if the filter doesn't fit. I use those in my percolator basket with no issues.

That's what I did.

I think it may be six months or longer now.
That sounds like a good way for me to be up a clock tower with a rifle. I can barely stomach these people with caffeine. Without?

Check garage/yard sales. Check ebay. Check Goodwill and similar places.

You may find an exact replacement...or one close.

Older coffee makers are generally pretty simple and not difficult to repair. Check out some youtube videos on the subject. And if you can't find the part you need, other coffee makers may have an equivalent part that would work just as well.

Google "Mr. Coffee repair" and see what comes up.

What model is it?

Try googling "Old Mr. Coffee makers" and see if you can find another one just like it.

My only real beef is that the rubber stopper in the bottom of the basket that engages when you remove the pot has started to leak. Minor annoyance. Makes a small mess. I expect the rubber stopper has just gotten hard like old tires, wiper blades, or the innards of a terlet when they start leaking.

For $25 I was going to just replace the whole thing.

Just did a little reading up on Mr. Coffee history.

You believe that it first came out in 1972 and sold for $39.95? That's close to $250 today.
$294 😳

That's like saying you can't drink properly aged Scotch because you can't wait that long for a drink. Walk out and enjoy the sky and clouds for 2 min, and the drip process will be complete.

Nope-

Take the pot out when done, even two hours later if I didn’t drink it all, and it still drips on the screaming hot burner.

Pisses me off.

Don’t piss me off in the morning.
