Looking forward to this, whenever it rolls around. I "liked" Ewan in some older stuff, but his stock has really went up with me, especially some of the WWII history stuff he's done in documentaries with his brother Colin (not the MMA guy either). Colin McGregor (Ewans older brother) is a former RAF officer and fighter pilot.

I love the story of Mallory and Norgays efforts to get to the top. I got to meet Norgay's son (also a climber who has summited Everest many times) Jamling Norgay about 20 years ago when he was doing some US presentations partnered with Mountain Hardwear (I think?).

Also, I have an original National Geographic from the time that was given to me free by a used book seller many years ago; it was the issue that first told the entire story of the expedition. I think it was maybe July of 53 (?) but not sure now. It was and is a very treasured possession (in a storage box somewhere now). I would have bought it anyway, but I'd stood and talked books, writers, and history for about an hour with the store owner, and when I mentioned Everest, he knew he had a copy "somewhere" in the store. We both started looking and I found it after about 10 minutes on a high shelf. I asked him what he'd take and he smiled and said "I'd like to 'gift' that to you". šŸ˜‡
