Can anyone tell me how they liked the KE-15 lower from KE Arms? With it being on sale for around the same price as a PSA lower I was trying to figure if it was worth it or not. I had seen some of the WWSD videos and like the concept but was not sure how well it held up in practice.

I have one. It’s pretty cool, but mine ended up cracking in front of the mag well where the two halves are ultrasonically welded together. Mine was from the original brownells preorder run. I emailed on a Saturday night and immediately got a response with a shipping label to send it back for a new one. I haven’t been easy on it and think the crack was a fluke. Overall I like it and would have another. But there is just something that still feels weird having a plastic lower, even after having one for two years.

I built my version of a WWSD carbine on one and I have been happy with it. About 1000 rounds in and no issues. My rifle came in at 5 lb 2 oz.

Pros:
-light weight
-Flared mag well
-single point sling attachment in a good spot
-cost. Cheaper than the combined parts

Cons:
-length of pull non-adjustable and seems “long” for me
-takedown pins not captive and non-standard
-hammer pin non-standard (longer but same diameter)

What did you end up using for the upper in your build?

I had an old CavArms lower. No issues with it, it was great for a lightweight build but the novelty wore off and I lost interest.

I’m not a fan of fixed stocks and the grip was OK but not ideal. In general, I love tinkering with things so modularity is key, hence why I’m such an AR fan. I’ve considered trying one of the KE lowers but I know I’ll end up losing interest again after a few years.

^ like he said, it’s not modular so you are stuck with the a1 length stock and grip and it’s associated angle, but I get along with the combo fine. I also wasn’t thrilled with the non captive, non standard takedown pins either. Lots of other weapons have non captive pins so it’s a personal thing. Also only certain drop in style triggers do not work in the trigger well. My cmc wouldn’t fit, but I used a geissele ssa-e since it’s not a drop in style. I forgot about non standard hammer pin too, I used a normal one to no ill effect, they say you can use it.
