Ok, long story short, I let a buddy of mine use my Heritage Rough Rider 22lr/22mag for a bit. Apparently he let it ride around in the floorboard of his truck. No biggie, its a cheap revolver I carry in the woods from time to time. So I take it down entirely to get all the grit out and I found what seems to be a weak spot in the casting maybe? Doesn't look like it belongs there. What do you guys think?

Ok, looked at your photo, haven't taken mine down like that...

Is there a detent ball or something? Mine does click going into the down position then back to closed..

No, no detente ball or anything like that. Pretty sure it's just a bad spot in the casting. The first picture with the light shining through shows how irregular the hole is. And it's beside the hole for the loading gate.

Its not a bad spot in the casting. Ruger blackhawks/super blackhawks, colts, colt clones all can exhibit the exact same hole/flaw. Its just a thin spot where the internal and external ways are machined. Sometimes there is breakthrough. Essentially, that's the way they get made. No flaw. No issue. No worries. Put it back together and enjoy using it.

Thank ya sir! Never seen that before. It's already back together and getting ready for the next outing.

all my years of revolver ownership I've never seen that in any of them but either way I don't see how that would be an issue, if it were up top near the business then you'd have a problem

Have 3 blackhawks in the family with the hol. Its not unusual....just machines out that way sometimes.
