My favorite styles are Double Imperial Stouts and heavy Porters.

My favorite beers are Collaboration Without Representation by Deep Riverand Barrel Aged Siberian Night by Thirsty Dog.

My favorite porter is Komes Raspberry Porter.

I'm looking for other recommendations for beers folks that have tried that you highly recommend.

Bonus points if it's an NC beer.

Highland Gaelic Ale. They’ve been making craft beer in NC since before it was a “thing”.

Not a fan of stouts, but Bells Java Stout is one of the best beers I’ve ever had. If that’s your style of beer you should try to find some!

Lots of good NC breweries. Sierra Nevada, Burial, Fonta Flora, Mother Earth.

Burial’s Surf Wax is one of my favorites.

And I used to work for one of their distributors. Not only are their beers top notch, but a coworker that took advantage of their "y'all can have tours ANYTIME" offer said that, showing up unexpected their brewery was clean enough that you could eat off their floors.

I like their Thunderstruck Porter. Their beer I MOST enjoyed, though, was Tasgall. It was a one off hybrid Norse/Scorch stout style. I REALLY wish they'd done it more than once.

I still advise folks today that if Highland does a style of beer you like, it will be an AMAZING example of the style.

They just don't do rich enough beers for me anymore.
