Maybe this should go in the cooking section. Maybe not. Wife and I are chilling and snacking. I’m snacking on smoked cheddar slices on Triscuits. Hard to beat for a less unhealthy treat. Also love pistachios and cashews. I’m not rabidly low carb, but I do restrict intake of stuff with a high glycemic index.

What are your favorite snacks and why?

Cheese and crackers is always a good go to. For some reason, that turned into my families Sunday afternoon snack. We try to keep a couple different good cheeses around and some different crackers.

My normal snack is Almonds or beef jerky. I have three different flavors of the Blue Diamond Almonds that come in the cans on Amazon subscribe and save along with their big bags of wasabi/soy almonds. Also have the 15 pack variety box of Jack Links jerky delivered monthly.

Oh, man...don't get me started!

Saltine crackers and Duncan Hines Creamy Cream Cheese Frosting
Beef jerky by the pound
Seasoned sunflower seeds (Biggs Taco Supreme, David's Spicy Queso/Ranch/Bar-B-Q)
Peanut butter Oreos
Doritos (Ranch, their new BBQ, spicy flavors, etc.) with dip (sour cream and onion or french onion preferably, or a cheese dip)
Cheese It Grooves (any flavor)
Boiled peanuts (bit messy to try snacking with while working)
.
.
.

Cheese, crackers, pepperoni, Port Wine Cheddar on a Wheat Thin, peppers with blue cheese. And of course Ashe County Cheese Cheese curds. Those are all my biggest sins.

Pretzels with Inglehoffers Sweet Heat mustard and now some Lusty Monk mustard.

Popcorn. I might be a world record holder in that regard. I‘ve been eliminating the microwave crap and making hot air popcorn so that has slowed me down a bit.

Oh and those damned Carolina Peanuts Sriracha Ranch peanuts. Those are awesome.

I think I had a thread going about homebrew trail mixes a few years back now -- similar to this.

I mean, if we're talking 'trigger the health nazi's' sort of thing: Lays Regular Potato Chips or Cheetos (Crunchy) or Goldfish (regular).

My 'trail mix' though: almonds; cashews; pistachios; white yogurt & chocolate covered raisons; dried cranberries.

Sitting at home, sardines in hot sauce on a ritz cracker.

At work I keep an industrial bag of these in my tool box. Keeps me away from the Redman.

I eat tons of those lifesavers too!

Cheese! Almost any kind, but smoked cheddar is a regular. I could also eat Cottage Cheese by the tub with peaches or pineapple.
Life long craving for Ritz Crackers and Peanut Butter, also partial to nuts...cashews, peanuts, Blue Diamond Smoked Almonds.
On the healthy side I like Honeycrisp Apples, Peaches, Pears, Pineapple, and Bananas.
I could eat me weight in Crunchy Cheetos and any kind of Doritos but I try to refrain.
Walmart Trail Mix with nuts and M&M's is also a favorite.
Tortilla Chips and Queso Cheeze Dip is aaaaawesome!

The Walmart brand pistachio’s. They’re bigger nuts than the major brand and they don’t have the burnt taste.
Used to be a big fan of cashews but they started giving me ocular migraines. It’s a little know thing. Thought I was having a stroke the first time it happened.
Cheese, peanut butter crackers.
Popcorn with butter garlic pepper sea salt.
On the border chips food lion medium salsa.
Cheese puffs, balls.
Pretzels sourdough high sodium.
Henry’s homemade cream soda made with REAL SUGAR.
Almonds with wasabi

Lately it's been roasted/salted sunflower seed kernals. Also keep cashews and almonds on the counter.

We’ve been enjoying smoked creamed cheese on crackers lately. Very easy on the Weber.
We keep a big bag of pecan halves in the freezer. One of my favorite snacks.

These might be my favorite Almonds I have delivered monthly. They definitely go quicker than others. Also the only ones I normally stick my finger in the can when I'm finished to grab the rest of the seasoning powder.

Try the Sriracha ranch from Carolina Nuts. They are sold at Harris Teeter, Lowe’s and Publix. I’m not a ranch guy, but those nuts are the bomb. I’ll even eat their Salt & Pepper nuts, but they are nowhere near the Sriracha Ranch.

Check out the chili dusted pistachios. Not cheap, also not hot, but yummy.
Carrot dipped in hummus with siracha is always good.
Love me some pickled herring.
Every size bad of white cheddar cheetos is a single serving bag, so I don’t keep them around.

Black olives
Mexican-style pork skins
Dry-cured meats
Heirloom tomato sandwich (Duke's only)
Fried chicken gizzards
Falafel with garlic sauce
Chewy chocolate chip cookies

Heirloom tomato sandwich (Duke's only)

C'mon, a snack is something you can eat in the truck or on the couch. I ain't ever had a mater sandwich that should be eaten in either of those places. A good one should be running down to your elbows over the kitchen sink.

I put potato chips on mine sometimes.

I can do Nilla wafers. I love cookies in general. Trail mix without almonds. Praline pecans. Smoked brick cheese. Jalapeños with cream cheese in them. And a weird one, vanilla ice cream with balsamic vinegar.

If you haven't eaten a tomato sandwich at over 55MPH, you might not be a Carolinian.

I could go for some smoked Gouda cheese right about now...

Someone mentioned Pringles...I LOVED them as a kid, but looking back it was because of the novelty of "potato chips" that were identical, stackable, and came in a can. Flavor and texture just wasn't "right".

These days, they do have some pretty decent flavors and I'll occasionally get some. But though I loves me some mashed potatoes, I'm just not the fan of stamped/fried mash potatoe chips that I was when I was younger.

A family sized bag of Lays Sour Cream and Onion, though...that's single serving right there!

Always have Lance nabs on hand here.
Cheddar or Pepper Jack cheese and crackers.
Vanilla wafers and peanut butter.
Ice cream. I try not to keep it on hand because I can eat a half gallon at one time.

Anybody here actually cook a "dish" as a snack?

If nobody else is around, I'll fry up a batch of french fries, dump them out over a double layer of paper towels on a cookie sheet and shake them back and forth a bit to sop up the excess oil, then immediately salt them. Pour a small bowl of ketchup, bring a glass of ice cold Coke, sit in front of the TV and watch a movie all by myself with a steaming hot batch of perfectly salted, perfectly fried french fries to munch on.

And then there's the dicing and browning/blackening of diced hotdogs in a skillet with butter, then dump them into some Kraft Macaroni and Cheese for much the same thing.

Lance square nabs- peanut butter not cheese
Pork skins- the hard kind not the puffy stuff
Jerky- deer is best then beef but not the ground up reformed stuff
Cheese- most kind will do but cheddar is best
Love to eat sunflower seeds when on a road trip but they have worked some havoc on my teeth over the years

I see some mentioning the Lance square nabs.

I ate so many of them as a kid working in tobacco, take out a barn, go prime for another barn, hang the barn, that I think I ate my share.

I don't eat them anymore.

I like good juicy apple slices. Snapdragon, Envy, Honeycrisp, Jazz, Cripps Pink…. They’re about as sweet as I can tolerate, they keep in cold storage for a long time—they’re basically a dessert.

I am also a fan of cashews. Lightly salted whole is the go-to, but so like “everything bagel” seasoned nuts as well.

I like to microwave cheese quesadillas. Sometimes with salsa. Sometimes with ketchup and oregano to make them taste something like pizza.

Also, Wasa crackers with cheese melted on top of them. 60 seconds in the microwave.
