Long story short, my jacked up shoulder has kept me from shooting my hunting bow. So I put my target bow back together since it has a lower draw weight. Don’t know if I’ll be up to hunting again but gonna try. Might just hunt with this one.

Good news, my hunting arrows and target arrows hit the same so I don’t need to re tune the bow. Just need to shoot more.

Just 10 yards but it felt good to hear three arrows slapping against each other.

How big #s is that crazy lookin bow?

I need to double check but pretty sure it's 50# limbs turned down to #40. But it's 39" axle to axle. So it's big even for a target bow. It's what I was shooting 3D with before I had to quit. I love long ATA bows.

I think my hunting bow was #60 turned down to #50. I cannot shoot my hunting bow enough to even try to tune it. And I can't get broad heads to group with field points at all. Hard to tune a bow you can only shoot about 8-10 times in a session. I shot about 20 shots, in 2 different session today. So about 40 shots today. I can work with that.

I’m impressed!

I'm surprised the form came back to me so easy. But in the end muscle memory is really brain memory telling the muscles what to do. So if you mentally know what you should do it seems to come back pretty quick. The muscle stamina will take actual work though.

@chiefjason I remember your archery posts. I had started looking into it but didn’t have money for it at the time. I might have to re-investigate once things settle down.

Nothing I loved more than shooting a bow. Used to cut and fletch my own arrows. Makes you feel good when you cut and fletch your own and Robin Hood them a few times. I hurt my shoulder a few years ago and stopped. I’d love to get back into it and have considered getting a lighter poundage bow for that reason

All my stuff was on my hunting bow. So I had to take off that sight and stabilizers to swap them over. I'm kind of cheap like that. I've got a press and used to do all kinds of work on our bows here. I'd have to re teach myself most of the technical stuff though.

Had to fletch 3 arrows tonight. One of them I took off shooting today. It's much easier using the NAP wraps. And my target bow has a drop away rest so it's easier on the fletchings too. But stacking them too tight will still take one off.

I've been working out and focusing on some shoulder stuff for a while. But I quit working out at the end of deer season then got sick. But I think that has helped a lot. And trying to focus on engaging my back/shoulders when I shoot to make this part of my workout.

Been thinking about this. You can usually get lower poundage limbs for bows but you need to have someone that can swap them. It's not very difficult but not sure how many shops what to deal with it or if it's cost effective. But if you really like your bow it's an option. The other option would be one of the highly adjustable bows. You can work on them without a press for draw length and draw weight. And you can start of light and increase the weight if you want too.

Put 2 dozen down range today before my workout. Felt good. But I can feel my shoulders giving out towards the end.

Quit shooting the same dot!!!!!!

The 1st one is impressive, the 2nd one is just expensive.

I can usually get away with 2. I can’t get away with groups though. Might be getting time to step back a little too.
