Maybe you didnā€™t know all thisā€¦

An example, for your consideration isā€¦

New Zealand

New Zealand also has a lot of guns ā€” 1.5 million in a country of just 5.1 million people ā€” but unlike the United States, New Zealand took legislative action after a tragedy.

Following a 2019 mass shooting in Christchurch that killed 51 people, then-Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern implemented a series of sweeping reforms to the country's already strict gun laws. Ardern announced these reforms just one week after the shooting, Time reports, and the new laws were pushed through parliament almost immediately. The laws included creating a firearms registry and placing a complete ban on AR-15s and other assault rifles. New Zealand also created a gun buyback program to try and get weapons off the streets. By the end of the program, Kiwis had turned in more than 50,000 guns, NPR reports, greatly slashing the number of firearms on the streets of New Zealand.

I donā€™t have a degree in mathematics but I can figure out the percentage represented by 50,000/1,500,000. They ā€œslashedā€ 3% of the firearms on the streets of NZ. šŸ¤Ŗ

Yea but they got ARā€™s 500,000 buried in caches too. So theyā€™re off the streets.

When you add in the number of firearms per person of the population, by number of gun deaths. You find you are in a much greater danger of being killed by a gun in those countries than you are in America. Mexico has one gun store in the entire country.

I bet those 50,000 were turned in by law-abiding folks. The percentage of criminals turning in guns was probably much lower, making the share of guns held by such criminals even higher in the general population.

And this:
Silencers are often referred to as suppressors. The best descriptive term is gun muffler. In New Zealand, which has a strong tradition of gun ownership, gun mufflers are unregulated and cheap. They are for sale over the counter or in the mail.
