30-40’ on a 8.5’ rod. I think I usually fish with too long of a leader and sometimes I’m unsure if I’ve got my line/leader/rod balanced out optimally.

Decided to go up near the gorge and fish some wild streams...broke my rod on the laurels on the hike in. Dont think I'll revisit that section of mountain anytime soon, since I covered about 2.5 miles in 5 hours.
Yeah, I'm a lowly spinner fisherman and didnt have a telescoping rod. Thought the 2 pc rod was tucked into my pack enough, but slid down an incline and it caught and snapped.4 pc rod, in a case, in my pack. I've fished some of that nastiest streams you can think of. Fly fished over 25 years. I have yet to break a rod on a trout stream. Mainly because I case it when I'm hiking or out and if I have to do any serious bush whacking.
I've only broken one fly rod ever. Last month I broke one fishing out of my kayak and still have no idea what weakened the rod to break like it did.
I've been eyeballing these since they came out.Well I have been messing with Tenkara rods and have had “reasonable” fishing success with these two rods:

It’s a whole different feel from reel based fly fishing but the compactness of the rods is astoundingly convenient.

I will, the 6wt seems like it would be perfect for pond hopping for smaller bass. Those look really nice for packing! If you decide to purchase one keep us updated on how it performs.

Life’s too short so... F it.
Got one on the way.
6wt or 4wt?

4WT. My next purchase was going to be a 3WT anyways. Folks reviewing the rods stated in effect that the rods were preforming like a rod of heavier weight (ie the 6WT felt like an 8WT when casting). To me the 4WT made more sense.
Yeah, hard to get a good spin rod that packs down. My 6' 2wt small stream rod is even a 4 piece.
Because it has no eyes and the line has to flex the entire length of the rod. When you build a fly rod you space the eyes as part of getting the rod to flex correctly. No way to do that with that rod. Cool idea though. It's a tenkara rod with a reel.
Well we’re gonna find out if it’s a good idea or not.
Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for a winner.
If it does feel heavy and over weighted you might have to over line it one weight. It should make the rod feel softer. I can about guarantee it will work. How it feels is the question.
Nowhere near as tasty as a red.
What’s the verdict? I was a bit south of low water bridge at the 109 bridge today.

10-4. I worked 6a-10p yesterday so I cut out early today and decided to fish since everyone was at home and there was no way I was gonna be able to sleep. We might try to go this weekend and let the kids swim while I fish.@DCGallim
