That mouth reminds me so much of my ex mother in lawThat's a hungry giant right there.
6 pound body with a 9 pound head.
Just got a few whiting in the surf over Thanksgiving. We just arrived back at the beach, so we’ll see what this weekend has in store.

Trout in Mebane? Cleanest/cooled water around (other than quarries) is the Eno and I’ve never hit one there. We need to talk a bit..,,,,Trout today in Mebane. Nice mature fish.

Took a party king mackerel fishing today. Bite was slow but we got a few forgot to get pictures because they were in a rush to get back to Charlotte.
Since it was sunny and almost 50 degrees, walked down to the pond and got some sun and exercise. And a few of these.

Using the Mitchell 308 and Garcia rod I bought in 1972. The 308 needed a cleaning and a tuneup. I bought some bail springs and got it working like new again.
The bream and bass seem to like these tiny lures. I caught an 10+ pound bass on one of these. Using ultralight rod and 2 pound line makes for an interesting time.
This is true. It really wasn’t even a picture worthy trip. Everyone was beat up from the long, rough, cold ride inYou know was they say.... It's just a fish-tale unless there is pictures
Hmmmmm I think I know where you at 🤭Got into a bunch of these, fun on speckled trout tackle
Just as a note, holding a bass as in the pic (that you plan to release) is most likely a death sentence. Lots of new tagging studies are bringing forth data that is changing the way we think about C&R.View attachment 308159Little cold water bass.

OP: If that was a cull fish or was eaten, no sweat. I just wanted to mention it in case it helps someone.
That method basically breaks the jaw of the bass, who then doesn't eat, gets weak and succumbs to parasites or disease.
The best way is to support the body weight while using the bottom jaw hold.
A 5 lb bass is typically 6-7 years old. Growing big bass is a slow process.
Gonna hafta learn how to fish, as I've only pond fished with bobbers for cats & bream & ran bank lines for cats a couple summers.
Our new place has 3 boat launches within 7 miles for awesome river & lake access. We're buying a boat & the area has great bass, crappie, walleye, perch & cat fishing, but I dunno WTH I'm doing. They even have a spoonbill season.
Don't care nothing about sport/trophy fishing, I'm all about eating them, as is the fam & I'm looking forward to having a few beers on the river, while I grocery shop. Just gotta figger out how to get those yummy mofos outta the water & into my frying pan.
That's a big payday right there. Not mine but this was caught 45 miles off Kitty Hawk. That’s a 22’ boat.

The news story I caught a glimpse of said it took over 2.5 hours to process the fish. I did learn a cool tuna fact this past week watching a tv show. A tuna can actually work so hard fighting the fisherman it can “cook” itself through body temp. That’s why getting the fish in the boat ASAP is crucial. That's a big payday right there.
Is that the woman that makes all the racket in the back ground while you are trying to talk on the phone? Here's one my wife caught in back yard pondView attachment 288230
That was a recreational fish. A lot of that meat will be wasted more than likely. Heck of a fish whether it was sold or not. That's a big payday right there.
That’s a good sammich
Biggest one I've caught from the dock. In the spring it's a fish for almost every cast with a curly tail grub. That’s a good sammich
Popping bugs are fun, especially when the bluegills get on the bedsFirst top water of 2021.
