I’m getting a lot of pan flashing in my pedersoli frontier flintlock. Thinking about drilling out the touch hole. Any experience with this. I’m haveing the same problem with commercial and homemade powder.
Is this a new or used gun? Amount of priming powder, placement of priming powder in the pan and type of flint all have an effect. Pics of your lock would help. Drilling out a flash channel is a last resort.I’m getting a lot of pan flashing in my pedersoli frontier flintlock. Thinking about drilling out the touch hole. Any experience with this. One other question- are you using a substitute for the main charge. Subs are notoriously hard to ignite in a flintlock.I’m getting a lot of pan flashing in my pedersoli frontier flintlock. Were you using real black for the main charge? Did you clear the flash channel before firing? Many black powder guns, if stored long term in a vertical position have clogged flash channels due to oil migrating down to that area and congealing in the channel. My pan flashed 100%.
