Food saver

Too funny. My wife went crazy with ours when we first bought it. She even sealed a few of my beers and put them back in the fridge as a joke.

I waste a lot of food. I admit it. I waste A LOT less with my food saver...

Very curious: did you open one while still in the bag?
 
I've got one, and love it! But currently out of bags. Seems no grocery stores carry 'em around here. The kitchen store has them, but it's a pain to get to...

They're indispensable for keeping frozen stuff! No air=lots less bacteria, plus no freezer burn from inherent moisture or condensation from defrost cycles. Frozen stuff tastes a LOT better.

My wife stocks up on bags via Amazon. Our problem as well. I will have to ask her when she gets home for the link.

Yep, that shoulda been my 'next' step about a month ago... If she's got a good source, please post!

I've used mine for food, shipping small stuff so it won't rattle around, keeping stuff dry long-term, etc. I go through a lot of bags now and again.

I bought the one that can make bags from the big roll. Works great and really cheap.

Yes Sams Club and Costco both have the packages of rolls cheap compared to grocery stores.Also try Ace Hardware.
 
I have a plastic bag sealing machine but it will not pull a vaccum. I seal ammo up with oxygen absorbers. You all are fancy.

I thought that was the only way they were made. Until y'all said something I didn't realize there was any other way. I also manually place my roll where I want it cut so I don't waste as much of the roll.

Walmart carries them now
 
So, I'll bite, fine folks of CFF. What is a battle pack? I mean, I see what he's done there, but what purpose are they usually intended to serve? Long term storage? Grab and go ammunition that you know is in good condition? Ammo you can put in a bugout location underground? Inform me, fine fellows!

Vacuum sealed for storage. I have them stored in my bugout bag. I recently vacuum packed 5 g23 mags which live in my vehicle since I carry my g23.

It's a nice idea. Especially if your BoB isn't one of those compartmentalized MOLLE bags. I use a hiking backpack, under the presumption that I can trade overall weight and take a few extra things in exchange for the lack of organized pockets. I may just give that a try myself.
 
Errant_Venture I figure by the time I need to use the ammo which hopefully is never. It's been sealed up airtight.
 
Just FYI- Costco has the latest greatest FoodSaver on sale. $30 instant rebate makes it $119. I'm picking one up!
