No, nothing to do with a boy band..............

Just about every thread I pull up and that's been many since I have been trying to familiarize myself with the site, I find so many acronyms, a leave the thread more confused than I was, than before I started reading!

Any chance of creating a sticky with a list of all these acronyms, so it possible to understand what it is that's being written?

Surely, I am not alone in this??

Can you give us examples of what is confusing you?

Also, what a let down, I thought this was going to be about the 80s pop band... :(

I'm not a mod or staff and I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night but which ones are you referring to?

Pretty much everywhere, but, I will pull up two screens and copy and past some examples. Might take me a while, but, I'll git er done

Now Im really thinking about what might be posted here.
Only one I can think of that is limited to this site would be FNF/FNFC for the Friday Night Fight stuff that will be scattered here and there. OTher than that it seems to be 'common' internet lingo

I've been here since the beginning but it took me awhile to figure some of them out but I was never considered a genius.

Just keep taking it STEP BY STEP and you'll learn them. Just keep HANGIN' TOUGH and you can figure most of them out by context. You'll have them down by the end of SUMMERTIME but IF YOU GO AWAY you'll never get it. BABY I BELIEVE IN YOU.

Yes, those are all New Kids songs.

Welp, you win the Internet for today.

You may have won the internet but your man card has DAMN sure been revoked o_O

I was afraid of that. But being a teenager of the 80s some things were unavoidable. Full disclosure I only remembered Hangin Tough, I used my googlefoo for the rest.

Here is the most important rule of all. Everything here tends to be an inside joke. And the longer you are here, the more of them you will know, and in the meantime you might make some of the best friends you may ever know. :D

Problem is, inside jokes lead to pants down man hugs.

Somebody could have some fun with a definitive list with explanations.

NIB = New In Box; except unless you are a dealer it's still used.

IMO= In My Opinion

IMHO= In My Humble Opinion; Is usually anything but humble.

YMMV= Your Milage May Vary; don't expect to get the same results as me, I made mine up.

LMGTFY= Let Me Google That For You; What are you too stupid to look it up?

FNG= Fu**in new guy; I'm new here but I'm cool see? Used by 3/4 of all new members.

And so on...

Sized (250) 200gr LSWC. Loaded them over 4.5gr of Red Dot. All plunk tested. Going to the range shortly to make sure they'll go thru the cardboard.

Hell, I shot competitively for years without having chronographed my loads.

I was shooting minor loads that made 142PF, but they were fine.

I shot IPSC, so they chronographed a load now and then for verification, I was never surprised. My loads pretty much followed the data in the books (all of my loads are plain, middle of the road loads)

7.62x39 RGB 2-die set, no shell holder (90877

Lyman DPS Speed Upgrade kit (discontinued), fits 1200 DPS and DPSII dispensers

Just a few examples

LSWC = Lead semi wad cutter.
142PF - 142 power Factor
IPSC= International Practical Shooting Confederation
LymanDPS= Digital Powder Scale
7.62x39 RGB= Really Great Buy

SHTF Excrement strikes the oscillator
EDC Every day carry
MFCP Muddy field, couldn't plow

I don't think we really use any acronyms that are unique to the forum. They're all pretty common place throughout the forum world.
