Ok after talking to some shops and people you get all types of answers but no one saying this is what I did.
Looking for engraving information for Form 1 SBR.

Having done the form 4 I have something to follow. Doing so and doing the form 1 as an individual what is required and what have they been approving?
Do you need to spell out your full first name, middle and last then add city and state? Can you abbreviate your first and middle using your initials?
Do you spell out North Carolina or is NC fine?

Been thinking about adding another SBR on a form 1.
What I understand is that you are required to add the original maker and SN then there is a spot for you to add your name as it will be engraved on the lower.

Its going to be a 9mm AR Glock mag lower. So the cal would be 9mm and 4.5 Barrel length would need to do a mock up for over all length using one of my SBRs just slap the upper on it for overall length stock at shortest setting correct?

I know I'm making more out of it then it is but dang I would feel better if there was a way Silencer Shop could do the Form 1 also.

Just gonna toss out some thoughts…

Engraving should match the form. Reality is nobody cares. If you filed as Christopher Robin Hood and engraved Chris Hood…you’d have to be in a heckuva mess for that to cause an issue.

NC is fine.

There’s no minimum font size for anything except the SN. So you can make it pretty small and use your full name. THSF does a lot of them on the underside of the lower, beside the trigger hole. Nobody is every gonna see it, but it meets the legal requirement.

You don’t actually have to engrave the lower. You could engrave the barrel if you prefer.

If the lower says multi, and the barrel isn’t marked, you also need to engrave the caliber. On the form, caliber is simply 9. If you’re using eForms, you’ll put a 9 and then choose mm (or maybe it says millimeter) from the unit of measure dropdown. On a paper form, you’d simply put 9.

Barrel length + 19” is an average number for OAL if you don’t want to mess with actually measuring anything. The measurement, if you read the form (or what was quoted above) is with the stock fully extended.

Great information guys.

Going to have SS send me a copy of my fingerprints then start the process.
Roll your own. Much cheaper and more convenient.

Or buy one good copy and make a scan of it.

Out of curiosity, does the ATF have stated requirements about how recently prints must be taken when used with respect to ATF submissions? I'm asking because your suggestion to use copies would seem to indicate it doesn't. I looked and couldn't find anything other than a requirement that the date the prints were taken be on the card.

There’s nothing in the regulations that says anything about it. The pics have a requirement, but the prints don’t. I may roll multiple cards at once, but I just don’t put a date until I need them. Just in case the examiners enforce a non-existing rule, which they occasionally do.

For example, there’s no requirement the pic be in color. I know a place that submits B&W. But every once in awhile one examiner will question it.

Haven’t seen that. Probably just a way to confirm SN and model.

Is it definitely for all SBRs? Or just for 80% starts?
