Don't want to debate the forward assist, but my uppers which don't have it are often billet and don't fit with anti-rotation tabs and the like so I've had to pick up a few. I do a lot of suppressed shooting and caustic gas in face is no fun. I still haven't done the RTV trick, but when coming across 'forward assist plug', I also stumbled on 'forward assist vent'.

Anyone use one?

I was bored yesterday and modeled one up and did a prototype on my 3d printer. I'll give it a try this weekend. This particular plastic has a low melting point, but considering AR plugs are often delrin, I can find a different material if it works.

I’ve never used one, but have seen them for sale for awhile.

It would’ve been faster to do the RTV trick. 😝

And drill a vent hole if your CH allows for it.

You using a standard baffle design or flow through?

I use a Geissele ACH charging handle and it’s great for shooting suppressed, no gas to the face at all. I’ve used the Aero Breach, and Radian Raptors as well and the ACH is the best.
I tried my buddies geissele and it was much better than my radian with the RC2. I am gonna get one.

The lip on the ACH is so much better than the others. Feels more solid too.

They should incorporate some rubber to seal the deal. A replaceable rubber seal.

I did some testing, and it works*. I did the trick of over-oiling the bolt so the 'smoke' would be more visible. There is definitely a jet of gas that comes out of it. But it's about as much as @NCLivingBrit could expect from any source in his ear. It's a small jet. To be fair, my test was unsuppressed, plus I did the RTV trick, so there was very little coming back towards me anyway. I'll do another test with it suppressed. In the end, I like it, and I'll probably make a couple more just for fun but it is not a large solution to gas in face, compared to a sealed charging handle. In the video I took it was impressive how much blows out the ejection port (as designed).

Watching videos on sealed charging handles, I'm going to dremel and o-ring the underside of a charging handle to bolster the RTV on top.
