Fox Body Fever (Mustang)

A., that's a nice Mustang - 88 GT?

What engine and why is it a PITA to drive?

This is why foxbody’s are priced so high. Everybody starts of stock but ends up with a race car. So good nice drivers are rare. Oh my driver ended up a race car. Terrible to try and drive on street.

Very nice. Not race cars but my last fox body and 3 SN95/New Edge stangs I've had have all had the stock springs & struts/shocks replaced with lower/stiffer versions. Kinda sucks in areas where they don't keep the roads up. I'm more into road racing/autocrossing than drag racing, and that puts me squarely in the minority in the mustang community, lol.

What's so great about these cars is the affordable combination of a V8, RWD, LSD, and a stick. That spells fun in my book. I'm happiest driving sideways. :)

I have three mustangs…

1) 79’ Indy Pace Car model. Fist year of the fox body. It was my first car. It ended up with a 347 stroker and a bunch of other supporting goodies.

2) 94 GT Convertible. Fun car for sure. Blew the engine when I was letting the ol horses really run on 540… killing it!, when 540 first opened (when it was only open from Leesville Rd to 40). Believe it or not, at that time you would be one of 5-10 cars on the road the whole distance… it wax great! Replaced that engine with a Ford Racing crate engine and supporting parts to help handle the power gain.

3) 2003 Steeda - Love this car. It come from Steeda lowered and track ready. It moves and hugs the curves.

I have always been into mustangs, since I was a kid. Then, I started modifying them in high school and it only got worse, in college, when I was working at Super Shops (high performance car shop in Garner, for those who are local and can remember). The whole shop would head down to Dunn / Benson Drag Strip on Thursdays and … let the horses run! Fun times!

I remember going up to Concord once to this place around 2005 and looking at an '89 GT with less than 2,000 miles on it. Had the original window sticker, at $14K some odd dollars and that's what they were selling it for.
