Fuel Prices...

I pass by 10 gas stations every morning, two on the north side of 40 and 8 on the south side. All but one were at $3.49 today.

3.69 a gallon diesel in SC the other day. 82 bucks and the tank wasnt empty to start with.

Sure could use the trump train right now. FJB

My local just went from $3.19 cash/$3.29 credit for regular to $3.29/$3.39 within the last couple of days.

Gas prices seem to be a little more stable than food prices. The two stations on the corner a mile and a half from us, they've not gone up in probably 3 months.

I'm taking my family to the beach this weekend for a 3-day getaway, it will cost $160, maybe $170, in gas.

We get gas at BJs. It has been listed at $2.80 -2.60 a gallon at the pump for a few months and we get an additional $0.10 off by using a BJs credit card. Yesterday it was $3.39 at the pump.

Don’t blame me… I voted for Trump both times and my son worked for him.

BTW my IRAs are heading down faster that the Titanic. (Only clean thing I could quickly think of)

Thanks Joe… and any asshole that voted for You. We owe youse guys , or better yet youse guys owe us.

let’s go Brandon!

$3.29/gal regular in N AVL yesterday evening.

I remember $2.09/gal about this time last year.

$3.29 - $2.09 = $1.20 / $2.09 = 57.4% increase in a single year.

That's with:
1) decreased demand (covid shutdowns, stimulus checks, eviction moratoriums, etc.)
2) no war/flare-ups in oil-producing regions
3) no US refinery or oil & gas infrastructure explosions/mechanical failures
4) no environmental catastrophes

Curiouser and curiouser!

That baboon in the White House announced they’re working to reduce gas prices. One proposal is a holiday from the Federal Gas Tax. IF they do that, it won’t even offset one week’s price increase.

We better hope their is no conflict in Ukraine. If Russia cuts off oil and gas to NATO countries the demand for gas will spiral out of control. 38% reliance on Russia’s resources. The EU is currently having talks with other countries to obtain their energy needs. Russia is in a good situation in this respect. Globally only China will not be affected. I feel a US economy much like the Carter administration approaching.

And what makes this all the more a tragic comedy is that the US has more POL in volume than any other country. We could be totally energy independent and thumb our noses at the rest of the world. But no.

Fuel? Ask me about lumber prices...

and the truss manufacturers? they can gouge the market as much as they want with no recourse except to build a different method and even then, lumber is still up.

I got a full quote back yesterday for a new project, 3600 sq ft heated, 5000 sq ft under roof.....over $180,000 for the whole lumber package.

I thought, or had heard that, lumber was coming down and it was half to a third of what it was earlier. I am looking to do a renovation and addition at some point soon, but I can also wait out the crazy price bubbles too.

Price of Crude determines price of gasoline, in general. When it goes up $3.50/barrel in one hour, the pump price will be heading up right behind it, because the wholesalers post their next price and the gas stations react. They make most of their profits from walk-in merchandise sales.
If you buy a lot of gas or diesel a month, BP gives discounts if you set up their app and buy over a certain amount each month. I get .20/gallon discount with mine. You have to use the same credit card each time, but the app handles that.
Yes, I used to work for BP. And Exxon. And Marathon. And Speedway.
But the only discount I get from them for being a former employee is discounted wireless at AT&T😬
BP does get me the wireless discount. They were the greatest to work for, of the bunch. Unfortunately, they have the worst safety record of the bunch. Lax in employee discipline until Texas City. Heads rolled easily after that FUBAR.

Never mind. Anything I am trying to say will get my nether regions smacked again.

But in an an effort to stay on track and be humorless, a helpful article on the insight of energy prices:

I'm still stumped by gas prices being this high and the truck market still being crazy high too. The last time gas was getting this high, people were dumping the gas guzzlers and buying up every thing that got 30+mpg.

Definitely worries me being mid-20s and seeing the price of everything this high. How in the hell am I going to buy a house or used much less new car, etc.? It’s just plain daunting

Patience and preparation. Until there's a total collapse, expect times like these to run in cycles. Prepare yourself for when the pendulum swings in a favorable direction.

And it will. People rode out the 70s and early 80s. As the Good Book says, this too shall pass. But it might take years.

Paid 3.69 per in GA for regular this past Monday. Diesel was well over $4. LGB

This is why Im interested in a Electric car. I drive about 2,000 miles a month Which means I am filling up a few times a week. Screw that!

Your going to rent or lease everything....

Already do…

Don’t pay taxes on your car, home or property. Daddy G will send henchmen with guns to seize YOUR private poperty and put you in prison.

If we have any hurricanes in the gulf this summer/fall, expect $5 plus a gallon, maybe more the way things are rising steadily.
Hurricanes are the least of our worries. I listened to a talk show the other day that said expect diesel to be $7-$8 dollars a ga before it’s over. They also said that with the additional cost of fuel, fertilizer has tripled or better, and repair parts nonexistent, small farms are going out of business at a rate not seen since the 1930s. That means if you think the shelves are empty and food is high now, wait until this hits the supply chain!
