If you remember maybe 3 years ago we were asking if we should shoot factory 9MM and 223 because how cheap they were. Now, I am asking the same thing, should I shoot factory loads or reload. It is completely opposite now. Reloading supplies are more expensive than factory loads.
I saw SSP and SRP on sale for $95 per/1000. By the time you add shipping and Haz-Mat fees, it was about $120 per/1000. I did find some in Savannah last week and they were $195 per/1000 or $22.50 per/100.

Depends on what you want to shoot. Factory subsonic 9 is, I imagine, still relatively expensive, but I can load it dirt cheap. 🤷‍♂️

I have been able to get some primers for around $100 per thousand by watching the forums. I figure with watching the sales at blue bullets and even with powder going around $40 per pound, using pick up brass, it is slightly less than the cheapest aluminum case 115 gr bullet ammo.

@blewis3 you're correct but the point is, do you save your components if there is only a couple of pennies savings?
Primers .10 (When you can find them CCI or Winchester)
Bullets .09
Powder .06-.10
Brass ???? range pick up
Shipping and Hazmat Fee

Box of 9MM 50 brass Case for around .30 a round

Mostly reloads…

I don’t shoot any of the 75gr gold dot loads I have, but the 75gr TMJs shoot exactly the same and the 75gr BTHPs are pretty close.

Working up some 75gr loads using a new powder (Ramshot Tac), since 8208XBR seems to have up and vanished like a fart in the wind.

95% of my shooting is reloads. I didn’t start buying primers until early 2020 but I haven’t paid more than about $50/1000 except for some LRP I bought off here. I bought as many primers as I could afford before they dried up. I never did the math but I know I spent thousands of $ on primers between early march and Memorial Day 2020. I still have enough to hold me over for a while plus it kept me from dipping into my factory ammo supply.

I'm probably switching back to factory ammo until I can find primers and lay in a better supply. Seems like loading is more expensive for now.

Factory Ammo is in "cans", Shoot reloads...mostly, cast my own bullets, it's cheaper all around.
Only thing I may be hurting on at this time is 209 Primers, last was $105 per K shipped should of
would of bought em years ago..but..ya snooze, ya loose.. have a few trash bags of Ole AA's, Nitro's,
STS hulls. Anyway it's reloads, handgun is mostly cast bullets, rifle is the cheapest "bulk" prices in
30 cal / 22 cal, Primers are gonna be the "killer" when the time comes..dread buying 209's if / when
they do show up...
The big boys, Shoot just once in a while..338LM, 375H&H, 458WM, 460W, 50BMG, not really any
target stuff in rifles.

I got started in reloading right before the last "big scare" happened. I learned. When things got back to normal, I started stocking up. I bought most of hazmat items at local gun shows to save on shipping and hazmat fees. I'm pretty well stocked up right now, and have not bought any primers in two years now.

Bullets are another matter, but I have enough of those in most calibers to last a while. I wish I had stocked up more 44 mag, though. But, I won't be buying any factory ammo anytime soon.

We can always have more... started back in early 70's, just kept buying, the last go round when things seemed to go back to
normal started reloading 12ga again after a long time, had shot, powder and some primers, but it seemed like the ole AA's
didn't make the last move, guess they got tossed (other half's idea of cleaning, they were in trashbags) dusted off the MEC's,
got some hulls and started. Fast forward.."wish I would of stocked up on 209's" but...live n learn. I cast so that helps on the Pistol
side for the most part, jacketed bullets on the other hand..some there are plenty, others not so much. Bought basically all the
HM local as you, and if I did buy online, was in "bulk" under one fee. now with the "limits" HM kills ya, then shipping. Factory
stuff unless really cheap, maybe buy some but seriously doubt it. Oh Well...

Oh..The Lee APP and swagger came, can't wait to set it up, and try it. May have to do a "temp" setup, C-Clamp it to a small
bench, dig out a box of brass, then pack it all back up.
