Let’s open this can of worms.
For a carry gun, what would you roll with out of the 2 options?
I’m sure the 19 will get the most votes. The 320 feels better in my hand.

what’s the difference between a 320 compact and the m18?

I carry 2 sigs daily. I would not be able to pick a bigger Sig for a bigger Glock. Glocks have a wonderful support net if something goes wrong.

I'm one of those guys who tried to do Glocks because I understand and appreciate the reliability, support network, aftermarket, and simplicity...but I just hate to shoot them. <shrug> I'll vote 320. It's my little bedside gun that's quicker to grab than my big bedside gun. If you didn't keep it confined to those two I'd have a few German guns I prefer without Compromise over Austrian Perfection or Cohen Beta Test Specials, I won't name them because I wouldn't want to derail your thread so you can hate me as much as my preferred gun mfr reportedly does.

I think the question that needs to be asked is: Have you shot both, and how did you do with them?

In my experience, which isnt extensive by any means, just because its comfortable doesnt mean it will perform the best in your hands.

(Stirring the pot) Ever hear of Glock leg?

If you like the Sig's, the M18 would be my pick for carry over the M17.

I'm a Glock guy for my use, but the M18 is definitely nice too.

I was able to dry fire a 320 last week. Wow what a trigger. If they don't have any more issues or recalls I think they will eat into the ccw and duty market quickly. The days of awful factory triggers are over if you want to compete.

The main reason I have multiple Glocks (four 9mm and two .45acp) is because mags for each caliber are interchangeable ... and even work in some other platforms (like a Sub-2000 or some AR9 variants). Yes, Sig’s mags can do the same but I don’t really know how many Glock mags, especially 9mm, I already own ... plus 9mm 33rd Glock (Glock mags not KCI or such) sticks have not ever done me wrong.

Now if I had no investment in either and was just starting out ... it would be hard but I think I lean Sig based on past P229 and P239 history. Man I miss my P239 ... but my wife won’t give it back.

I maintain the the P239 is THE best small-frame/CC pistol. I love those (I had a bunch). A pleasure to shoot.

M18 and p320 differences:
  • has a safety (some models don't) but you can remove it pretty easily.
  • pre cut for an optic
  • night sights
  • comes with a 17 rd and 2 x 21 rd mags
  • If you're fine with waiting on stock to come in, you can get it from Cabelas and get like 10% off if you use raise.com to buy gift cards. Saves you from a transfer fee and s/h if you buy things online too
  • full size frame with compact slide, like a Glock 19x. M18 is almost the exact same dimensions as a 19x
  • Color scheme matches a SCAR
Perk of the sig series is that if the grip is too big you can just buy another one for like $50

I've had a bunch of Glocks, and a bunch of SIGs. (And a bunch of other guns, too.)

I have a Glock 37 with an ATI trigger system installed. Great shooting gun with a trigger that is much better than stock. ( I got a .40 conversion barrel for it, too, for the day -- if ever it comes -- when .45 GAP isn't around.)

I never cared much for the SIGs I've owned UNTIL I got a P320 compact. One of the best shooting compacts I own. Surprisingly good trigger.

I've also had a Glock 19 and 23 -- the .23 had 9mm and .357 SIG conversion barrel.

My bedside gun (at night is a Glock 38. I've done a Ghost kit for it, and have a TLR-4 mounted. It'll stay in my bedside table (when it's not in the gun safe. But if I need to carry, it'll be the SIG P320. I don't carry often. Recently I haven't been going ANYWHERE so it's been a non-issue. :(
