Two part (4 hours) special on A&E. Recorded it earlier this week and a little over halfway through the first one. Really enjoying it.

Like his music or not, you can’t deny his influence and success. And I’ve always found him to be the most humble person relative to his fame of anybody I’ve seen. Always seems to be super appreciative of his fans.

Yes, he’s said a few things I disagree with...but who hasn’t. :D

Heck of a entertainer.

He can sure get a crowd into it and not many share his energy level at preforming, much less at his age to maintain it for a whole show or multiple nights in a row.

I think he handled the divorce very well & his first wife was featured prominently on the show & in a positive light. I was amazed at how humble & down to Earth he seemed, despite all the celebrity & $$$$$$$.

He dumped his wife and kids for that Trisha Yearwood cow.

If you can't appreciate your family, how much do you really appreciate your fans.

He has a family now with Yearwood
Im NOT condoning what he did, but, hell, how many on here have been through a divorce?
How many people just fall out of love and meet other people?

I dont care about his family life, that's HIS business, well THEIR business.
But I like his tunes quite well and, as stated by others, hell of an entertainer.

I went to see him a few years ago, my first country concert, and I was blown away by his performance.

Not a fan of his music at all. His personal life is none of my business. I won't be going to his concert.

Let's not forget he slept around on her and was pretty much a stranger to his children before Trisha.

His music sucks too. Especially that awful Chris Gaines phase.

Garth was very successful at running his business of turning country into pop.
As I’ve taught my sons, ideas have destinations, whether you like it or not.
Garth led the assault to turn country into pop and rap.
@Me. if you like honest storytelling blues/country, give an ear to Chris Stapleton.
Years ago I laughed out loud when a comedian said, ”I know country music speaks to the heart... the problem is it has to go through my ears to get there.”

Garth started as a neotraditionalist. That was a movement then. He later went to the stadium style more popish stuff.
But he has shown his country chops and shown them well. He’s a great song writer, and a great player. The Dance, for example, is a great country song. Couldn’t get any better. Songs like “Much to young to feel this damn old” are good country music to me.

I’m not a fan of all his stuff, but I’m a fan of a lot of it. But he’s an incredible performer.

As far as his personal life, if I avoided people who had divorces, I’d have no friends or family and I’d be sitting here by myself feeling superior, lol.

Finally watched the second part this morning.

Anybody that avoids this due to the divorce is doing themselves a disservice. It’s a extremely well done special. And he seems to own every single screw-up with his family as he goes. Marriage and children.

Garth is such a vital piece of music in general, not just country music, that it’s worth the time to watch. Sandy (the ex) is very open about all of it and plays a big role in the special.
