gave in to the dark side-Holosun SCS

I’m kind of surprised no one beat them to this. Keep the dot as low profile as possible, design it to integrate with the slide’s design, and bonus if you can get it so low that it co witnesses w std irons.
They do this by having an internal battery, so it is not readily replicable. No free lunch, you got to give something to get something.

Yeah, I think that’s fine as long as the solar works well. Maybe you have to sit the gun on the window sill 1-2 days per year to ensure it has a good charge… I think that’s a very reasonable trade off.

Update: Range day 100 rounds down range

First impressions are very positive. Since the sight co-witnesses with the irons “finding the dot” is very easy and comes naturally.
Draw and fire times seem faster as well. I do not have a timer but I feel getting a quick first shot hit is easier. I am going to a match tomorrow so my feeling will be put to the test.
One last interesting thing was towards the end of the range session I found myself looking over the irons so I could get a better of the dot.

Looks really nice! The low profile idea is really smart and innovative. This is the way it should be - optics built around the pistol platform and not the other way around. Will be interesting to see if other manufacturers follow suit when this Holosun is super successful.

green. I wasn’t sure I would like that but I am a fan of green dots now.
I have one of the Holosun green dot for my PCC, but everything else I have is red. Looking at this because I had trouble finding the dot on my G34 and it looks a lot better than my vortex.

Where did you get it from. Every place I found online is out of stock or has a 27-30 day shipping window (which means they do not have it in stock and are waiting for a shipment)).

Thanks.

I ordered mine from Midway on Sunday and delivered Thursday.

Update #2:
Sight did well in the match yesterday. I definitely like the green dot; I think the hype is true: green is easier to use than red.
One surprising thing I noticed is how much more noticeable muzzle climb is when using an optic. I suppose it is difficult to judge this when using iron sights.
Admittedly only 300 rounds in but Right now I think the SCS is a winner.

How was it in finding the dot? When I shot some matches with a vortex dot on my G34, I had trouble finding the dot when drawing the pistol and after reloads (did not install suppressor height sights).

Finding the dot was not a problem as it is so low that your muscle memory from drawing and aiming with iron sights works.

One month update:
I have had the holosun on my EDC for a month and have 400 rounds down the pipe.
observations:
Overall I really like this sight. The transition to optic was easier than expected.
I am finding i am starting to “look over” the iron sights to get a better look at the target.
I can shoot better groups on paper with the optic.
The green dot was not an issue for me. In fact now prefer it over red.
It is easy to get over confident and start missing, Optics are NOT a replacement for proper training and trigger control!
Bottom line: If you are looking for an optic for your MOS Glock this sight is a great choice.

Picked one of these up yesterday off the M4Carbine forum to go on the G19 MOS I have on the way. Paid $315 for it new in the box. Looking forward to trying it out.

I loved these when I checked it out in store. However, unless they have changed, the auto light sensor was a problem using it in darkness with a flashlight. The dot would wash out in the light when using it as defensive tool. Daytime range, no problem. Once again, a great idea and low profile.

I can't understand how the Holosun auto-adjust feature is so bad. My $99 Riton is MILES ahead of Holosun in that regard, both in how smoothly it adjusts (not that notchy/stepped level of illumination like the Holosuns), as well as getting it "right" for the lighting conditions.

@Derek8404 was right about this when I brought it up a while back. Just leave it daylight bright and lock it. Auto adjust is a pretty useless feature.

I was gonna ask op about the auto adjust. I want one of these as well and reviews seem very positive. Only thing i hear about is the auto adjust...

Just to make it clear. The problem with the one I tested was with where the sensors picked up light. If you ran a flashlight (handheld) specifically in front of the gun in the support hand, vs behind the the gun (fbi style), the dot intensity would not adjust and washout in the light beam. This may be on earlier models, not sure. Worth testing if you need it to work under these circumstances. Other than that it was a great idea.

I know this is an older thread but just checking in to see if @keepcalmandcarryon or anyone else is still using the SCS? If so are there any issues to report?

I just picked up a G49 and I’m looking to dip my toes into the pistol optic world with it.

Still going. Still a strong recommendation.

Are you using the standard Glock sights with it or something else? I’ve got a spare set of the Glock night sights that I was thinking about using but if something better is available, I’d be interested in hearing about it. Possibly just blacked out front and rear?

I use the standard plastic Glock sights. small and unobtrusive. I don’t want any bright front sight taking my eye off the dot.

I've had the SCS green on my g19 since about the week they came out. Several 2-gun matches, Run N Guns and a couple few thousand rounds later I'm still enjoying it. I can't say I've been super nice to this optic, but I'm also not dropping the pistol fully loaded on it's top on cement neither. So far it's holding up well to my use and will continue to serve me as I halfway abuse it or until it folds from abuse.
I'd like to give the 509 comp a try, just for bigger FOV in matches and hopefully quicker dot pickup.
No complaints with the SCS though.

Great review, I picked up one of these for my vp9sk, it will be replacing the 507xc green dot on it that makes the factory sites useless. Looking forward to cowitnessing the factory irons.

Now just to find time to swap them out and train some as it's my edc.

I'm thinking about getting an SCS for my VP9 then putting the 508T that's on the VP9 on my shotgun.
