Sometime back, maybe 8 years or so I bought a knife at a gun show, Buck fixed blade, and the deal was buy one, get one free. The free one was a small Gerber Bear Grylls model. I put the Gerber in a emergency bag in the trunk of my car.
Maybe 5 years later I take the knife out of the bag and discover it's missing the pivot screw. I turned the bag inside out, screw is not there. 3 Years later I sent an email to Gerber asking for a screw. I didn't ask for anything free, I asked for the cost of the screw + shipping, even though I figured they'd just send one.
After 2-3 back and forth emails, I got a reply that I had a credit for $30 to use to purchase an item less than or equal to the $30. No option to get a more expensive item and apply the credit. So I asked for the Dime multi tool. It arrived today.
I'm happy but I still have a never been used knife that is missing the screw. I'm sure I can source one, just need to make a small effort to look.
