Get over here! -dun dun dun- MORTAL KOMBAT!

I love the soundtrack from the first movie.
I want to see this one.

This previously got pushed back a week, and comes out this Friday (4/23/21). Available on HBOMax.

Interesting to see how the movie follows the gamelore. I think between the first, second, and third games, Sub-Zero is actually different brothers seeking revenge on Scorpion, who is basically a ninja zombie.

I would love to see this go full-tilt with brutalities, fatalities, animalities, friendships, and palette-swapped cyborgs.

Looks interesting...I played it some, but never really got deep into the gamelore so I have nothing to compare it to.

As an aside, we had this little bitty Filipino woman who worked at the PX on Arifjan who wore green tennis shoes, a green ribbon in her hair, green eye shadow, a green silk Covid cloth, and Jade character shirts.
I was in love 😍

I've plans to go see it Sunday. Woop.

I re-watched the original (1995) Mortal Kombat with the wife last weekend. She'd never seen it because she was raised under a rock and she enjoyed it for all the 90's glory that it was.

Just got out of the theater. I thought it was pretty good, and my wife actually enjoyed it. They left out some key characters that will show up in the next one. There are quite a few fatalities in the movie.

My movie-watching buddy watched it last night...his review:

MK, pretty awful

Might watch it tonight here.

I think if you go into expecting your typical movie you will be disappointed. If you acknowledge that it is a movie that is based on a video game that evolved the story after it was made you won't be let down.

Watched it with my boy today. It wasn't bad... i thought Johnny cage was a white guy movie star? Now he's an Asian cage fighter. Maybe I'm wrong, i haven't kept up with it in a long time

Agree with this 100% Also, knowing the game or backstory on some of the characters helps. If I saw this going in with no knowledge I would be absolutely lost. Definitely won't win any awards but a fun one to watch if you know the game.

Saw it and loved it. Would certainly watch again. (First time going to a theater in almost a year and a half - and it was PACKED!)

From what I'm seeing online, a sequel is almost guaranteed due to how well it performed this weekend.

And yes, Kanos had all the good lines.

I thought the guy who payed Cole Young did a good job, he's from the final season of 'Into the Badlands' (Which has some extremely gnarly martial arts/sword/knife fight scenes) Really, I liked everyone in the movie. Okay, well, Lui Kang seemed like kind of a wimp compared to the ballsy badass from the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie. And Christopher Lambert will always be Raiden in my mind.

Watched this tonight .
Went into it expecting it to be terrible and was pleasantly surprised..
If you looking for Oscar nominated acting this isn't it but for mindless escape it's an hour fifty that fits the bill

I haven’t seen it, but I did hear that the actor who played Kano is in pretty rough shape. He was admitted to the hospital earlier today. It seems his back is breaking from having to carry the entire film.

I’m with you on Christoper Lambert. That was only casting in old movie that this one didn’t live up too.

I agree with a lot of the above. They actually casted martial artists vs bigger name actors. So theres some trade off with the acting... but if you went to see mortal kombat for the acting...

Loved every min of it. Loved the action, loved the liberal use of powers, loved the liberal use of fatalities, loved that the plot was used strictly to tie together the next fight scene.

I watched it again this weekend. This time from the luxury of my bed with HBO Max with my wife. Like most people, she went in thinking it'd be terrible and was pleasantly surprised.

Just finished this. Found myself fast forwarding just to get to fight scenes.
I was not expecting all the foul language or gruesomeness of the movie. It wasnt as bad as the first one, but a one time watch for me.
