Grizzlies aren't too bad around here yet but.... if you can play with 40 s&w, it's like a G 22, right? Then you can make louder noises for practice or something. What a deal!
Curiously the 40 seems to fit the chamber better than the proper 10mm. The experts all agree the 10 mm is Unsupported. Yikes! Relax they say, it's perfectly safe - usually in practice, except for certain reloads, etc. However, Never shoot 40 in there because it's fully Supported! And fills the chamber? I don't get it. Sounds safer. Pure logic has held me back before or singed my eyebrows at times, so I call upon you dispassionate scientists and lay workers in the field for guidance. Bonus perplexing temptation: Since 10 mm is too long in a G 20, why not drop into a G 22? Same thang ......

From what I have read you don't need to change anything to run 40 in a 20... Somehow just works with just the extractor holding the brass in place.

Until you get that one round that slips off the claw, goes all the way to the bottom of the chamber, and won't light off cause the firing pin cant reach it.

Ive shot 380 in a 9mm before too... dont recommend that either.

Yeah, no harm no foul when playin games and goofin off. We do a lot of both here. Definitely didn't want to sound like I was endorsing this.

The notion of getting something for free is so compelling, the awkward advantage is just irrelevant, I guess. Wish I knew more about Glocks, only shot the 26, a peculiar rock shaped object. The 10mm sticks way out of the chamber. Is that typical across the board for 9mm, .40, etc.? Also is the G 20 same size frame ( essentially) as the G 17, 22? If so, seems like you could have a multi caliber toy for little expense or effort.....almost free! Not entirely pointless exercise for fidgety brains.

I read exactly this far in the first reference: "First, yes, the disclaimer: Don’t do this."

That would have been my advice as well.

I've been doing it for years, close to 5K rounds of 40 S&W in my G20. I do load the rounds to 10mm OAL.
