Going to close down the Firearms Classifieds now?

“Under this regulation, it will not matter if guns are sold on the internet, at a gun show, or at a brick-and-mortar store: if you sell guns predominantly to earn a profit, you must be licensed, and you must conduct background checks,” said Attorney General Merrick B. Garland.Apr 11, 2024

It’s still not a law. Congress didn’t vote on it, Senate didn’t pass it, president didn’t sign it. They can policy all they want but it’s still not the law. Merick Garland is not a god. Jus sayin…

This will not apply to the majority of the average gun owners. It’s geared towards individuals who have high private sells, trying to earn money flipping guns without a FFL. Even if you earn a profit, from selling a gun. Doesn’t mean you are engaged in business to predominantly to earn a profit. No more than I purchasing a classic car, fixing her up and then deciding it’s time to move her down the road so you can take on another project. Some guns are just like classic cars, depending on the age, condition, and rarity you may have purchased it on the cheap but when you go to sell it, the value has increased. Nothing says you have to sell it at or below your original purchase price. If so, I’m about to have one heck of a collection of pre-lock Smith & Wessons 🤣🤣🤣

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not supporting the proposed change and it being enforced. I think we all should rally together and tell them to go get lost. Just saying there are many people out there who have been told or came to the wrong conclusion on some parts of the proposed rule change.
Sigh... Guess I will ask again🤔

Isn't it already (and has been) the law that selling firearms for profit/income (also known as a business, side hustle, etc) means an FFL is required?
Yeah, but this time they really really mean it. They did change some of the wording around to give themselves more discretion in who they want to say who should have a FFL and those that shouldn’t.

An FFL has long been required to be in the business of selling firearms.
Still the case.

Wonder if this will return things to normal around here? Everyone that flocked here from ArmsList will now fly away sqawkin' 'bout how private sales are illegal now!
One can hope. I put the non member BST sections on ignore because of the flood of daily bumps and overpriced adds. Flippers are gonna flip though. 🤦‍♂️

Merrick Garland is a piece of leftist trash who is trying to frighten gun owners into doing what cannot be done by law or regulation.

Feel free to believe the rantings of YouTube lawyers who make their living from clickbait videos, or you might actually read the real law and regulations for yourself.

We’ve read what’s been written about this new regulation or law or legal interpretation. We’ve discussed it and we aren’t changing anything.

First, I think this new law and the pearl clutching is much ado about nothing.

Just like me ordering whiskey online and having it shipped to NC. Nobody cares.

Now if I start shipping crates that might cause a visit.

Engaging in the business of selling guns without an FFL has always been illegal. People have gotten around it by selling “their private collection”. They don’t mention they’re constantly adding to that collection and then selling it off.

As vague as it’s written it looks to me like they’re trying to close the gap to get the people skirting the law. I don’t see this effecting guys selling 5-10 guns a year. It’s the ones selling that many in a week that have cause for concern.

I agree to a point. They’ll eventually use it to snare someone that they either want or want make an example of, and it won’t matter what the intent of the policy is.

Make the classifieds members only, fed bois have to pay if they want access 🤪
Given that the government borrows.38 of every dollar it spends, do you really think that will be a deterrence? The membership fee isn't even a rounding error in the ATFs petty cash budget.

FREEEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOOOMMM!

*Freedom may not be for all individuals. Please consult your state representative to see if freedom is right for you. May result in loss of blind compliance and obedience bordering on servitude. Wishful thinking.

They already did.

Airport exec dies after shootout with feds at Arkansas home; affidavit alleges illegal gun sales...

Future my BST post will state:
All proceeds donated to the Georgel Charitable Foundation.

Anyone think the timing of that raid was coincidence?

No profit made on my sales, I barely break even.
The problem with all of this is that it won't be your definition of profit but theirs. And you will likely have to prove your numbers if it comes to that. If you get a chance because they don't do a no knock 6 AM SWAT team visit. It's just Yikes all over.
