Good gun store for milsurp in the Asheville area?

Have you checked ol grouches in Clyde, and a gun store across the street

Victory Arms in Mocksville is not too terribly far, and they generally have a good rotating inventory of military surplus rifles, ammo and accessories.

Going to school in Asheville... God this place is awful. Had a classmate go on a longwinded speech on how hunting rifles should be banned because "Hunting is wrong." Girlfriend just about lost her shit because that was how her dad in PA kept the family fed during blizzards.

I will listen to people who say hunting is wrong (tho I disagree in general) -- but only if they're vegetarian

Had that issue at unca forever ago in political science. Back then, hating GW' had just became trendy. I was the only one who volunteered to debate the situation in Iraq in favour of the administration at that time and no one else would. The debate topic was

==Has the administration succeeded in its efforts to rebuild the country==
Me: Look, this isn't an overnight job. It takes time. With the destruction of over x% of the infrastructure, what do you expect? How long did it take to rebuild Japan?
Opponent (Japanese, no less): JAPAN WAS FINE BEFORE THE WAR!
Me: No it wasn't. Their administration etcetcetc

Avl is way too left, and outside Avl everyone is way too right. Objective thought is a rare thing :).
All that said, I have came to find many gun friends of both persuasions who enjoy shooting, and many took their first shots at my place. That's the only way to make much of a difference, one person at a time :)

Oh, I forgot to touch on the original question. Milsurp is a hard to consistently pindown thing anymore.
Ive had pretty regular success finding good military pistols at OnTarget. Saw pa63s, Stars, Llamas, Brownings, and all sorts in there. Real good prices.
Pawnworld is the shop with the most milsurp rifles, atleast when I was in there last 4 years ago. Enfields, mausers, m1 carbines, etc. Prices you def have to haggle on though. I saw a broomhandle in there once. Last time I was there i was eyeing a british p14. had a really low serial number, around a thousand or so.
Alans Pawn and Jewelry, theres two of them. Found a dirt cheap Taurus pt96 there for under $300 or something way back. More recently they had a polish radom vis 35, some arisakas etc. Some prices good, some prices meh.
Not too far from the Alans on patton avenue, about a mile up on Leicester highway on the left is a pawn shop. A couple years ago their selection was unrivaled- p38s and lugers. But Ive never bought anything out of there.
Theres a pawn shop in canton, right down from the ingles, across from the subway. They had lots of neat stuff there, including a gewehr 43 on the wall, a slew of sks's and the liike, but when I went in last month it was all gone. Seen nothing but literally Glocks, ARs, wall hangers, fudds, and a couple ruger american rifles. Ammo selection was pretty reasonable tho.
Best source is the gunshow over at the ag center. theres a table or two that has a nice spread of C&R.
Milsurp aint what it once was, have to travel when and where you can. Sometimes you just get lucky.
