Went with my more beautiful half this morning and hit up a few local thrift shops. Not my best pewter finding day, but not too bad. I'll weigh when I get home, but I'd say it's more than 15#. Total of $13.50. Two candle holders in front left I'm 20211204_120447.jpgnot completely sure about, but they were a quarter each, extremely heavy and pretty bendable. They aren't weighted that I can tell and are one solid piece, bottoms are too worn to read.

add it to your melting pot or ingots to harden up lead. It's high in tin and antimony. I've just been stockpiling it for a while and have used very little as most of my lead is wheel weights and I've found that hard enough for all of my current uses. I'm probably over 300# of it now and really only buy it when I find it for very cheap.
I pretty much have given up on pewter. Too much stuff that is falsely marked and won’t melt.
I'm curious at this. I haven't found anything yet that didn't melt and was labeled pewter. What material do you think it was?

Great haul!

The “antique” shops around here are silly, and the thrift shops have been barren.

No telling but it was all purchased at Goodwill.

Often,, stuff looks like pewter,, but is actually old aluminum.

I also buy cheap pewter to use in casting. You just have to do some searching,, & scrounging.
