A buddy wanted me to fix his grandfathers old POS pre model 60 Marlen.
Not worth anything but I could tell it was super sentimental to him.
Recoil buffer was crumbled into pieces due to age, and I figured while I had it I would take the liberty of doing a full restoration to surprise him.
Was a good excuse to try out a mock bluing I have been wanting to test because the aluminum parts would dissolve if I put them in the blue tank.
did some parts blue, and some baked on Gunkote to see how well they blended. Really had to zoom in to tell what was what and a few people I poled couldn't tell what was blued vs non.
Figured I would share in case someone is looking for a bluing substitute.

After restoring the stock I just did a few cotes of a boiled linseed oil and beeswax blend that I make.
Would look better with more cotes but for free90free he can do it his damn self, so I gave him some of my paste and he can do additional hand rub cotes. lol

Dang! Nice work.

Is that natural figure on a factory stock? (I first wrote 'stock stock,' but it was a bit confusing!)

Ya, all I did was remove the mange dents, and old finish. It had a surprisingly nice piece of wood for what it is.
Don't think it was a higher grade or anything. Just happened to get a decent slab of wood.
