Is there really enough difference to warrant the additional cost?? Interested in your opinion before I pass and hold or toss the hand and get 5 new cards.....

I have a Hero5 Black. I couldn't be happier. It records in 3840 x 2160 with 12MP pics. I don't know I'd need better than that. Incremental improvements are how tech companies milk the consumer. Really depends on what you'll use it for. I record my escapades usually with the kids (mountain biking, traveling, skiing). It's perfect for that. Battery life is pretty good too but I have 2 spares for long trips. Accessories are stoopid cheap if you get the knockoffs.
7 Black or 5 Black/6 Base.
The Hero 6 Base model is the same exact hardware as a 5 Black. Therefore I bought a 6 Base on amazon during a nice sale and did the firmware update. Takes 10min to do and is very easy.
The 7 Base is a downgrade and the 7 Silver doesn’t offer enough benefits for me to warrant the cost difference. The 7 Black, however, has the awesome gimbal-like motion stabilization.

I’m sure either will be fine. I still have a Hero 3+ silver and it’s takes amazing pics/videos IMO. The case it comes with is pretty good; I’ve had it down to 100ft diving and never had an issue.

Thanks guys, I'll probably go with either the 5 reg or 6 base and call it a day. My demands are fairly low as are my expectations of becoming a boobtoob star in my remaining lifetime. Who really wants to watch an old man catch fish while naked anyway?? Limited audience....
