I bought some ammo last year that came with the rebate (CCI) and while I never factor rebates into my purchasing decisions or pricing, I do fill them out in case they decide to give it to me.

Anyway, I got one today. Somehow my $50 rebate turned into $43.90 on the pre-paid mastercard they gave me instead of a check. 12% fee? That's pretty steep, but whatever, I got something when I expected nothing.

Now I have $43 to blow on totally useless stuff!
 
I’m getting ready to list a box of 9mm. Coincidentally, it’s $43. :D
 
Always file and get my rebates, had a problem with only one federal .223 ammo, sent it all in and got rejected.
No big deal, ended up buying another brand next time aournd and that was easier then resubmitting.

Was that the Federal 300rd black pack .223? I bought 3 boxes of those this past Christmas when they were $84.99. With a rebate of $20. I got all 3 gift cards just recently this past month.

No, I think this was on some rimfire.

I tried to use it on-line this morning to buy stuff, card rejected. Must be some rule about it not working anywhere you want to buy stuff.
 
No, it was .223 100 Rd boxes, got a case in 2017. Got my .22 black box rebate in two weeks.

Did you activate the card? Total BS if the took balance off the card. Was this some PSA deal?

Was that the net cash after an ATM fee or did your balance start at 43.90 on the card?

I was able to spend the whole $100 value I was supposed to get from mine using it as a credit/debit card at restaurants but I am still not enthused about receiving these cards as opposed to a check. I'd be pretty aggravated if they reduced mine by $12.
 
I got rebate back from Federal Blazer Brass rounds. They put the full $100 on a visa card, used it at Sportsman Warehouse to but some more ammo.
 
Received my rebate check $50 Crimson Trace, envelope return address Fulfilment Crnter, easy to toss it as junk mail. Check dates 5/31/19 and check has cash by date if 7/29/19, pretty sneaky of them.

My check was mailed 6/26. I haven't seen it yet.

I hope I didn't trash it by mistake.
 
Great concept. Instead of just pricing the product appropriately, they cost more, hold your money to earn interest then send you back a portion while still coming out ahead.
 
CCI sent me a letter saying that primers didn’t qualify for their primer rebate.

I never got any tuna.

Don’t think rebates are for me.

Same mail date for my check for the laser rebate.
Got all my other ammo rebates last month.

I got all 3 rebates I sent in to Vista/Federal in March exactly 10 weeks after they were accepted. All Mastercard gift cards, full face value that was printed on them. I even was able to check the balance on their little online page. Used it to buy some
more steel for the range. I have another rebate just filed for a free Gruntstyle T-shirt, and I expect I will see that one in about 2.5 months as well

About 5 years ago I was in Lowe's to pick up a gift card for a Christmas gift. They wanted to charge me a $5 activation fee.

At Lowe's.

For a Lowe's gift card.

I didn't pay the fee or buy the gift card.

That felt like a scam.

Perhaps the card was not a gift card but one of those prepaid credit cards, they have activation fees,
may have been placed on the wrong peg hook?
