I need someone to work on my Ruger LCR 38spc. I had a squib today and put it in a vise with a rag wrapped around it to drive out the bullet. Bullet is stuck pretty good and I was hitting the aluminum rod I wa using harder and harder and didn't notice the gun had slid down in the vise and the cylinder release lever got mashed up pretty bad. The lever won't operate and the cylinder won't close all the way. Hope I didn't ruin it for good. Never did get the bullet out, either. It's still stuck in there pretty good.

Anyone know a good Ruger revolver gunsmith close to Kernersville?

Thanks,

Dave

ProShots Indoor Shooting Range and Gun Shop has two young gunsmiths. One (Joshua) has a two year degree from Forsyth Tech. LCR? Don't know. 336-969-4867. They are in in a small shopping center (Tractor Supply) in Rural Hall just off US 52, Exit 118.

Powers Firearms has a Smith that comes in twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday. I don't know anything about him but just putting it out there.

Thanks, I'll call Mark tomorrow and see if he thinks he can do anything with it, then go from there. I also heard from someone that Maverick over in Mebane works on a lot of stuff. I do travel through there about once a week, so that may be another option.

Just to follow up...

I took it to Mark Wagner and he called the next day and said he'd have to send it to Ruger. Ruger said I had damaged it beyond repair :( but offered a new one at a pretty good discount. They shipped it to Mark and I picked it up today.:)

Mark is a great guy, seemed very knowledgeable, and treated me really fairly. He did seem to have a lot going on, and I was surprised he got to mine so quickly. I'm guessing he "triaged" it and thought it would be a simple fix until he got into it.

I'd recommend him if you need a gunsmith in the Triad area. (And I'm pretty happy with Ruger's quick service, too.)

Thanks for the update Dave,

As I mentioned, I've only bought one pistol from him but enjoyed the transaction. Fortunately, I haven't needed his smithing abilities yet but it is good to know he's capable, honest and close-by when the time comes.
