Premise is that something is going to happen in 5 years that will wipe out all life on the planet. The Government is killing anyone who finds out about the secret to stop the collapse of civilization.

Theres other drama including the actions of the few of those who learn of the disaster cop being investigated for killing another cop and another detectives son being a psychopath.

What if the case was real, would you tell everyone that the world is ending and let the world burn early or would you keep the secret up to and including offing a few citizens?

Discuss.

I hate to admit it...but I totally side with JR on this. Why waste time replying if you don't want to play the game. Fiction has been discussed daily in dozens of threads here. "What if" scenarios are a common theme. Some, I assume, just get so old and crotchety they aren't happy unless they are peeing in someone else's Kool-Aid over anything and everything that doesn't align with their "druthers".

If I found out the world had 5 years, I would tell people, but I would accept the fact that almost no one would listen to me. Even if I had proof. I think people have a natural aversion to accepting that human life will not go on forever as we know it. Its the same when you tell people to evacuate an area due to fires or floods...people have a "It wont happen to me" mentality, and will actively seek to shut down any proof.

With that said, I would start living a bit different. Working every day wouldn't be a part of my plans.

Since .gov is actively trying to kill anyone who finds out about the secret, I'd need to know if .gov is aware that I know the secret.

This. I think I would keep it a secret as long as I'm safe. The other problem is that if everyone knows the whole planet would be like after the rapture.

Yeah...if most folks in the world knew of the event, it would be bedlam of biblical proportions. Crime rate would skyrocket, Vegas would be a hot spot, debt, especially credit card debt, would likely quadruple...people would pretty much do a stellar job of destroying the world within 5 years and the "event" could finish off whomever my be left.

I don't even think they would bother with credit cards or even paying for what they want. Credit companies would most likely just close the doors too. Farmers would likely stop producing leaving everyone to scavenge. The population wouldn't take much of a hit either because it won't be war, or nukes or zombies that would decimate the population before the end. Just 7 billion hungry anarchists.
