Harrington & Richardson SB2 Ultra 22-250

Picked up Handi Rifle number three this morning, it's been occupying a corner at my LGS for a very long time.
Chamber stamping reads:
MODEL SB2 "ULTRA"
CAL. 22-250 REM

I got two 40 round boxes of Winchester 45 grain ammo in the deal.

Advertised velocity at the muzzle for this load is 4 thousand feet per second.

OLD THREAD RESURRECTION..........

Grabbed up the rifle earlier this afternoon and checked an issue it has, seems when you drop the hammer, the breach opens uncommanded, not during firing, but immediately after.

From my own research it seems to be a common issue across the board for these, no matter the manufacturer.

So, took this one apart to give it a look, and I found the issue.

My rifles barrel catch spring has come out from under the barrel catch by about two coils of the spring.

So now, I order the spring, and rebuild the barrel catch.

And while I'm at it, I'm replacing the Weaver type scope base with an EGW picatinny type, and the scope rings.

Well, ordered a 20 MOA cant picatinny base from EGW, and three replacement springs for the barrel catch.
