Hawaii and gun control

Religion > constitution, always has been. Why is that suddenly a problem now? Oh yeah, it's not the 'right' one.

Enough poking, but yeah it's dumb.

I went Fainting Elmo about halfway through, but I screenshotted this gem early on:
WK Law Video Snip1.png

So, Hawai'i's Supreme Court just established a legal precedent supporting Gov. Greg Abbot's actions in TX.

Cool.

Of course. Undoubtedly you saw this coming, perhaps not this particular issue with HI, but at some point states or other entities, presumably with enough strength to back it up, are going to tell SCOTUS or congress to get bent and bugger off, but this one is even bigger than that. In this case, HI has said that their supremacy and sovereignty outweighs that of the federal US.

HI was the last state to join and it may be the first to leave. From what I understand and have read, a lot of the people of HI have no love of or care for the US and resent what they see as military occupation of their territory.

Bet they like the Fed cash just fine though.

Yes, crack whores enjoy their fix as well, but the only way to get better is to give up the sauce.

Besides, federal dollars aren’t worth much anymore thanks to inflation and Bidenomics.

Quick-like in like 10 or 15 years when an appeal finally makes it's way up

Why? What skin do they have in the game?
It's not their $$$, nor does it affect them. (they have security or permits)

Why?

To say F you to the Supreme Court of the United States of America?

ETA:

Hawaii court says 'spirit of Aloha' supersedes Constitution, Second Amendment

That's pretty ballsy

Ah, no, if you have nothing at risk, there's nothing 'ballsy' about it.
It's not their $$ making the law or defending it. The lawyers get paid, the judges get paid, the lawmakers get paid.
Who pays? The tax payers.

Now, If the above risk something (money, jobs, etc.) then I will totally agree with you.

Is the pineapple trade really that good that it can support itself?
From what I recall (based on last HI trip in 2016), there is no pineapple agriculture on any scale left. As with Macadamia nuts, they packed up and moved to Central America. Lower transportation costs among other considerations.

That's from memory of empty fields and locals' comments. I suppose I could Lougle it, but I just don't care enough to bother.

And what about their doing so surprises or appalls you (which is my interpretation of your comment)?

If the "court" were stacked the other way and the libtards had the majority and upheld gun restrictions that any normal, reasonable, person could intuitively understand are a violation, I would want my state to give them a big "up your nose with a rubber hose" (keeping it family friendly) too. In this case, the issue is just flipped as HI is occupied by libtards who want a disarmed populace for whatever perverted reason.

As far as any semblance of sanctity of or respect for the institution, well, that ship has long sailed. The govt, especially at, but not limited to, the federal level has become so overgrown, corrupt, and seized power that it was never meant to have and only maintains that power under the threat of violence. We very much need a reset, or a national divorce and I see States asserting that they won't go along with federal mandates as a early sign of that happening. HI waving their middle finger over gun control is in many ways similar to roughly half of the other states saying the Feds have abdicated their responsibly regarding the border and no longer have supremacy on that subject.

Hawaii ain't going anywhere. Is the pineapple trade really that good that it can support itself?

Regarding this, SCOTUS will scuttle this BS quick-like.
they have NO industry to support their selves now except tourism. any interruption shipping there would have them eating their children within a week.. they've overpopulated based on tourism dollars and importation.

I say we cut them loose, then buy the place for pennies after their collapse. Make it a travel advisory location, you can kill tourism and starve them out. Hell, slap an injunction on Spam and they'll have a veggies diet lol

Nope.

And I sure as hell hope Hawaii remembers they’re quit literally the first to get it if a Pacific Rim entity decides to not be neighborly…again.
Wonder what the Japs would pay for the whole shebang?

isn't that what the fire was to accomplish?
but yeah, many of them are not happy about being brought into the us. i feel they would not be happy if we cut them out either.

Well then let's save some money, they can be unhappy as their own nation without their hand in our pockets and US tourist dollars in theirs.

See how many people that First Nations bs feeds.

In nutshell, ghosts of the island overrule the law of the land. Thus, there is no law on the island. There is only what a few robed elites deem to be the word of ghosts.
Following the logic of the robed despots, only the government and criminals can have guns. We know from how the wild fires were dealt with the water is more important than saving lives or private property. (Just watch the corruption that is going to happen during the rebuilding. Guarantee plenty of off island left billionaires are making bank on that one.)
