An Akron police officer shot a 15-year-old boy who was holding a fake gun within seconds of stopping him, newly released body-camera footage shows.
Ryan Vayda Westlake, who has been with the Akron police nearly a decade, shot Tavion Koonce-Williams in the wrist on April 1, leaving the Black teenager with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening. The officer is on paid leave as state officials investigate the incident.

Idiot was walking around, waving a fake gun, and pointing it at people's houses. A neighborhood resident saw it and called 911. It doesn't matter if the gun is real or fake. What matters is that he was making threats with it that justified getting shot. Of course,the black community is beating their racism drums over the incident.

Read the article and it seems like the cop does have a bit of a history of bad decision making, but unrelated to this. The fake gun is not exactly air soft quality type of a replica, more ultra cheap basic plastic sans any markings. Not that this means you could have easily spotted it being a non functioning toy.
