Reports of a helicopter crash in Raleigh. Likely a NCSHP chopper based off of the text it looks like it crashed at their facility. Hopefully all made it out safely.
Yeah sounds like it was a legit flight with a TSA Aor Marshal boss going with the trooper. Obviously for LEO reasons they are declining to say where they were going
Not quite on either count, but I can't give details right now.
That could be said about any helicopter, any time it takes off. I doubt that flight plans are filed with the news media. I don't see how the crash makes the situation somehow suspicious.Last line of the article:
"It is unknown why the pilot and passenger were in the helicopter at the time of the crash."
If they wanted a new helicopter, there are better ways to go about getting one
True, the state (ie you NC people) pay for insurance.Nope, a crash would do it.
A lot of folks here seem to think they need it, and its always hovering right above. Whenever there is a chase how many times has the implication to break off the chase and let the helicopter follow them been used on this forum?why does the HIGHWAY patrol.....nevermind. It's a state agency. Of course they need it.
I don't know how many of you have flown in a Helicopter? If you walk away from a crash, you'd better count your blessings.
The fact that in the age of facial recognition, license plate readers and cellphone tracking.... Chases are not only obsolete but dangerous and increase liability for everyoneA lot of folks here seem to think they need it, and its always hovering right above. Watched this device deployed on LivePD Saturday night, the Starchase GPS tracker. The fact that in the age of facial recognition, license plate readers and cellphone tracking.... Chases are not only obsolete but dangerous and increase liability for everyone
I guarantee you that system is a helluva lot cheaper than a helicopter pilot's salary much less the actual chopper and support systems for it, plus fuel. This ain't Vietnam.....and choppers are ancient technology.Watched this device deployed on LivePD Saturday night, the Starchase GPS tracker.
Truck was reported stolen but in reality was towed for illegal parking, once recovered it was not taken
out of the system until that night.

Good way to help pay for the program.NCSHP is always available with their chopper. The va state police even fly medical missions with paramedics and such much like Duke Life Flight and vidant/ east care. They do that from 2 of their 3 sites I think it is.

Virginia flies a hybrid system. They have LEOs that do LEO work, and when they fly patients, they fly paramedics and nurses from Wellmont Health System.
I like Maryland's model, where the flight medics are troopers. Trooper medics get paid squat, but it's a great gig.
Good to know. Thank god.It has been confirmed as a HP chopper that crashed with 2 people on board it. No fatalities

That's not a Huey in that wreck. A Huey doesn't have that sharp rear end of the fuselage under the tail boom.It was a Huey, so Im gonna say it was "surplus" or military hand me down.
Yeah, the last thing that you want to hear is “We’re going down!”I don't know how many of you have flown in a Helicopter? If you walk away from a crash, you'd better count your blessings.
