Hi all, im New to the forum, one of a small handful of firearm enthusiasts in chapel hill. I met a gentleman over at Mr. Wests in morrisville yesterday we got to talking and he sent me your way. The past few years I’ve started collecting, I dabble a little in striker fire pistols and ARs, but my real passion is heavy American steel, SA/ DA revolvers, lever actions, 1911s etc. Im always looking to learn more in the firearms/ shooting space, and am looking forward to getting to know y’all.
I’m also a woodsman and love hunting from fur to feather, don’t know if theres a portion of the forum concerning hunting but if so point me in the right direction. Thanks!

Also, if anyone is privy to any low key friendly 2 gun matches , I’ve been interested in getting started in that space as well. Thanks!

Greetings, neighbor, from Lower Carrboro.

There are a LOT more firearms enthusiasts here in our immediate area than you may suspect.
After all, we live near UNC main campus, the birthplace of Ruger Firearms.

2 gun rimfire matches are nearby; 2nd Saturdays at DPRC. Sign up on Practiscore.

Glad you got the direction from our pals at Mr West's Outpost.
We also like Blackwood Station, our closest LGS, and DavesBuddysNeighbor, our neighborhood FFL.

Good to know there’s more of us than I thought. Big fan of Blackwood station, their little showcase room has a lot of great stuff, also very helpful. I’m not familiar with DavesBuddysNeighbor, private FFL I assume? Would love to save some drive time on FFL shipments as I typically go up to liberty ( about 30 mins for me).

@SecundusSystems is an FFL also, in pittsboro.

CCGC 2gun match is a great place to start, as Average Joe mentions. Very beginner friendly. Basically any semi pistol with safe holster and a semi rifle is all you need to start.
Carolina Guns and Gear Range near Ramseur also host a 2 gun match frequently. That one is much more challenging with stiffer competition as well.
