Wife's car...09 Toyota Venza 3.5L V6
107,7xx miles

All original.

Wife's car was hard to start the other day. She takes it to Advance Auto...it has 532 CCA ...suppose to have 700. Guy said it needed to be charged before he could test everything.
I come home and change it for 2 hrs on 2 amp trickle charge. It was about 80% charged when I put my battery charger on it.

Sooooo this morning I take it back to AA and have it checked again. Battery needs a charge again...but everything checked good...battery good.... alternator good.
I only have about 8 days left on my Gold warranty on the battery!
Guy said that since I charged it and drove it....battery isn't getting fully charged back from alternator. But since battery and alternator are good...it has to be either corrosion or loose connection somewhere.
There was a tad of corrosion on negative battery terminal. Would THAT BE ENOUGH TO CAUSE MY ISSUE??

I bought a battery brush and cleaned both positive and negative connections. It's on the charger now. Everything seems tight at alternator..and battery connections were tight as well.
Help

How’s old the battery?
3 years old...checks good....have about 8 days left on the 3 year warranty from when I purchased it.---but it says good on their system tester and they won't replace it unless it says it's bad.

I've found their battery tester to be unreliable. In my case it was the starter and the relay despite mixed info on the battery.
No issues starting since I've charged the battery.......

I call BS on their tester. You charging it has nothing to do with the battery going bad. Lead acid batteries are ok with chargers .

Sounds like you need a new battery. I believe you need to get a battery with 700cca or above if it calls for that. I've had better luck with Autozone batteries and Interstate batteries(not from Costco).

Time for a new battery. I’ve been buying the 50 buck value Batteries from Walmart. I know for a fact you can get at least 2 years out of them. Once when I went to get a Batteru for a Expedition and it was 170 bucks I said hell no. Put a 50 battery in it and sold it 2 years later. I also just replace the factory Panasonic batteru in my Scion XB with one.

Leave the lights on for 30 minutes.Jump start it and drive up to test.If he tells you it needs to be charged tell him you just did cause it wouldn't start this morning.
Then ask for the manager and tell him you want a new battery.

@Majicmike you have the Interstate batteries store a mile from your house dude. They usually have cheaper used batteries that pass the test.Econo power with little or no warranty.

I’ve checked, their new batteries as as high if not higher than big retails and thier 50 buck blend don’t have any warranty. At least Walmart’s are a year

I've not worried about batteries in long time. So with a car now that has a few years on it 2015 what Batteries are worth the money?

Checked my battery with a volt meter when I got home. Turned the headlights on for 2 minutes like a YouTube vid suggested.
Voltage was 12.xx volts.

Had the Mrs. crank the car....it went down to 10.00 volts then went up to 13.75 volts immediately. It started slowly going up from there. Have her rev at about 2_2500 rooms...and it got to 14volts
(YouTube said anything below 10 volts was a battery going bad...but 10 and up was good)

So...this tells me that the alternator IS charging the battery....and the battery is ok... correct? I'll keep a close eye on it this week and see if anything changes.

I have used Interstate batteries for years. If for no other reason the warranty is good at any Interstate dealer anywhere. No paperwork needed.Make sure the date code on the battery is punched out.Warranty starts from install date so if it is not punched out Warranty goes by manufacture date and you could lose a few months.

The gold batteries from Autozone seem to work well also.

They used to carry a 1 year warranty. I haven't gotten a battery from them in a few years though, walmart value power is a hidden gem.

IIRC the battery supplier for Walmart told me the value batteries were ones that sat at the mfg warehouse for more than 9 months were relabeled to the value power

Same as the cheap interstate

Seems to me your alternator is charging. And OK
The battery fully charged should read 12.6 vdc. At rest after charging.
First thing in the morning. Turn the headlights on for a minute, shut off. Check the voltage
12.6-.4 should be ok. 12.4-.1 it's not holding a deep charge and should be replaced.

Tell them it fails a "specific gravity" test. That it is in need of replacement. If they balk, have them show you that it doesn't.

Remove the battery and have them test it standalone.
